Timing

Build real buffer — especially for cross-terminal connections

International departures: plan about 3 hours curb-to-gate on busy days; domestic still wants 2–2.5 hours when check-in banks stack.

MNL’s pain is not only security length — it is terminal wrong-building risk plus landside Manila traffic. Same-airport “connections” that change terminals are landside only (exit, shuttle or Grab, re-screen). Self-transfer passengers should treat 3–4+ hours as the honest minimum when terminals differ; same-terminal online check-in passengers can sometimes run tighter, but holiday peaks erase that margin.

Confirm T1 / T2 / T3 the morning you fly

Airline–terminal maps keep moving under NNIC rationalization — your e-ticket terminal beats any static guide list.

Rough current pattern: T1 international-heavy (PAL international + many foreign carriers), T2 PAL domestic-centric, T3 Cebu Pacific plus a large international mix. AirAsia and several foreign carriers have shifted between T1 and T3 during 2026 phases. Screenshot the terminal from the airline app before you instruct a Grab driver.

Food

Eat after security if your queue looks long — options are uneven

T3 has the widest airside choice; T1/T2 are thinner and spike in price once you are airside.

Landside cafés exist, but a slow immigration / security bank can erase the meal window. Once airside, expect mall-style chains and sit-down spots that feel expensive versus Manila city prices. If you have Priority Pass in T1 or T3, use the lounge for a calmer snack rather than gambling on the last open gate café.

Priority Pass is strongest in Terminal 1 — T3 is basically one room

T1 currently stacks A Lounge, PAGSS Premium, and Marhaba on Priority Pass; T3’s main PP product is A Lounge on Level 4.

Open the Priority Pass app the day you fly — lounge contracts and hours move. PAGSS Premium lists a 3-hour cap and guest limits; both A Lounge locations list a 4-hour cap. PAL Mabuhay lounges and other airline rooms are not Priority Pass. OFW lounges are for eligible overseas workers with OEC / OFW documentation, not general passengers.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (IATA MNL / ICAO RPLL), widely still called NAIA, is Metro Manila’s main passenger gateway in Pasay / Parañaque — about 7 km south of Makati and roughly 10–12 km from central Manila depending on the district. Concessionaire New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC; San Miguel–led consortium with Incheon International Airport Corp.) took over operations on 14 September 2024; official passenger site: newnaia.com.ph.
Traffic: NNIC’s own year-end release and matching press put calendar 2025 at a record 52.02 million passengers (above ~50.1 million in 2024). Treat 52.02 million as the operator figure — not a design-capacity claim.
Campus today is a cluster of separate terminals, not one connected building. Live NNIC airline pages list scheduled passenger ops under Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Terminal 4 is not an active passenger building: in late August 2026 MIAA said NNIC had indicated the T4 rehab would not proceed and the site would be used for aircraft parking, with a new Terminal 5 targeted around end-2027. Do not plan a T4 flight. There is no airside walkway between terminals.
Airfield (published AIP / public references): primary runway 06/24 about 3,514 × 60 m asphalt/concrete; cross runway 13/31 about 2,249 × 45 m; field elevation about 23 m / 75 ft AMSL. Congestion and rehab works still shape the day-to-day feel more than raw runway length.
Philippine Airlines concentrates much of its domestic flying in Terminal 2 and a large share of international flying in Terminal 1; Cebu Pacific’s heavy footprint is Terminal 3; many foreign carriers split between T1 and T3. NNIC has been actively reshuffling airline assignments through 2025–2026 — trust the terminal printed on your boarding pass / airline app, not a blog table from last year.
Priority Pass (verified directory pages, Sep 2026): A Lounge Terminal 1 (05:00–23:00, East Concourse by Gate 2, max 4 h), PAGSS Premium Lounge Terminal 1 (00:00–23:59, East Concourse by Gate 2, max 3 h), Marhaba Lounge Terminal 1 (07:00–00:00, near Gate 9, max 3 h), and A Lounge Terminal 3 (00:00–23:59, Level 4 via lift in front of security, max 4 h). Airline Mabuhay / carrier lounges are separate products.
