MNL’s pain is not only security length — it is terminal wrong-building risk plus landside Manila traffic. Same-airport “connections” that change terminals are landside only (exit, shuttle or Grab, re-screen). Self-transfer passengers should treat 3–4+ hours as the honest minimum when terminals differ; same-terminal online check-in passengers can sometimes run tighter, but holiday peaks erase that margin.

Rough current pattern: T1 international-heavy (PAL international + many foreign carriers), T2 PAL domestic-centric, T3 Cebu Pacific plus a large international mix. AirAsia and several foreign carriers have shifted between T1 and T3 during 2026 phases. Screenshot the terminal from the airline app before you instruct a Grab driver.

T3 has the widest airside choice; T1/T2 are thinner and spike in price once you are airside.

Landside cafés exist, but a slow immigration / security bank can erase the meal window. Once airside, expect mall-style chains and sit-down spots that feel expensive versus Manila city prices. If you have Priority Pass in T1 or T3, use the lounge for a calmer snack rather than gambling on the last open gate café.

T1 currently stacks A Lounge, PAGSS Premium, and Marhaba on Priority Pass; T3’s main PP product is A Lounge on Level 4.

Open the Priority Pass app the day you fly — lounge contracts and hours move. PAGSS Premium lists a 3-hour cap and guest limits; both A Lounge locations list a 4-hour cap. PAL Mabuhay lounges and other airline rooms are not Priority Pass. OFW lounges are for eligible overseas workers with OEC / OFW documentation, not general passengers.
