Terminal navigation guide

Terminal-change and gate-area notes pulled from the markdown guide.

From Terminals & Navigation

Treat AES as one compact terminal: landside check-in / arrivals, then a single security filter into domestic vs international airside holds.
Walking distances are short; there is no airside train and no multi-terminal transfer. Still re-check screens — bus-gate walks happen.
Nordea ATM landside/departures by the stairs toward international departures (Avinor bank-and-currency page).
Car rental desks listed by Avinor: Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, Enterprise, Sixt.
Common mistake: planning a terminal overnight or arriving many hours before opening — the building tracks the flight programme, not a 24/7 hub pattern.

Ground transport guide

City-transfer, rideshare, train, and parking guidance from the markdown guide.

From Ground Transport & Parking

Vy Buss airport coach — Ålesund city centre (~25 minutes per Avinor) and Moa; timed around major flights. Schedules: Entur journey planner + vy.no / Vy app. Confirm the live fare in the Vy channel before travel.
Turvogna — Valderøy express-boat quay (~10 minutes) for onward boat links toward Hareid (Avinor public-transport page).
Taxi — stand at the exit; ~15–20 minutes to Ålesund centre. Booking numbers published by Avinor: NorgesTaxi 08000, Ålesund Taxi 70 10 30 00.
FRAM local buses (e.g. corridor services on Vigra–Valderøy–Ålesund) are the public-network alternative and are usually slower than the Flybuss; FRAM singles are not valid on the commercial Flybuss.
No rail station at the airport.
Parking — ~1,900 ANPR spaces (P2–P7 + P4 short-stay); 10 minutes free drive-through; book ahead via Avinor parking for discounted P2/P5/P6/P7 products when offered.
Car hire — Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, Enterprise, Sixt on the official car-rental page.
