Compact terminal; single-runway weather and TRD–OSL connections are the real delay modes.

TRD is a compact two-hall field, so security rarely feels like OSL. The schedule risk is Mid-Norway weather on one runway plus the dense Trondheim–Oslo shuttle. If you connect to a long-haul over Gardermoen, keep an honest buffer even when the terminal looks empty. International passengers should clear security with time for the Terminal B gate pier (bus boarding is common). Domestic hoppers can travel lighter on dwell time but should still watch winter morning banks.

Landside check-in and bag drop for domestic, international and charter sit together on the upper floor of Terminal A. After security, follow domestic (A / jet-bridge gates ~30–37 and regional stands) vs international (B / gates ~42–49, typically remote). The buildings are short walks apart — not a train transfer — but settling into the wrong post-security café still wastes buffer. Arrivals reclaim and landside meeting points are obvious; the military air-station side is not a passenger shortcut.

Prices are full Norwegian-airport sticker shock — Trondheim’s city food still wins if your timetable allows. With no lounge soft-drink package, plan coffee and water yourself.

Do not budget Priority Pass / LoungeKey minutes here: the SAS Café Lounge is gone and Avinor does not list a replacement walk-up room. For the city, prefer the terminal rail station (AtB ticket, ~35–38 minutes to Trondheim S) when frequency matches your bag claim; use Værnes Express when you want hotel curb drops and flight-timed frequency (~30 minutes).
