Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

Saturday is closed — and hours are flight-bank windows, not a day lounge

Tiny terminal; Saturday closure plus flight-tied opening bands and highland weather are the planning constraints — pad OSL connections.

RRS is a one-terminal regional airport, so walking times inside are short. The real planning constraints are the contact-page **Saturday closed** window, inland winter weather at ~**626 m** elevation on **13/31**, and published hours that are short open/close bands around the PSO banks rather than continuous day opening. Pad same-day Oslo (**OSL**) connections even when the hall looks empty.

Terminal

One compact passenger building on Stormoen — opened 1957

Single fixed-wing terminal; no named airside shop on the current Avinor directory; walking distances are short.

Check-in and bag drop sit landside in the single passenger terminal. There is no second fixed-wing terminal and no airside train. Re-check screens; gate calls still move when wind, low cloud, snow, or freezing fog slows the field. Visiting address on Avinor’s contact page: **Grind-Olaveien 50, 7374 Røros**.

Food

No named Avinor shop — eat in Røros or on the aircraft

Avinor’s shopping page lists no café or kiosk; treat F&B as unreliable and eat in town or onboard.

Official Avinor Shopping and food directory for Røros is empty of named outlets on the research day — no Narvesen, Point, Tax Free, or café title is published (ItemList count **0**). Assume you may find nothing open after security and eat in Røros town or accept airline catering. Confirm on the day rather than trusting third-party “airport restaurant” blogs.

Status

No lounge — taxi default; Entur stop exists, live buses may not

Zero lounges; no published Avinor flybuss; Entur stop is not a guaranteed coach — taxi / rental car; no airport rail.

There is no Priority Pass / LoungeKey / walk-up passenger lounge on current Avinor Røros shopping pages. Avinor does not publish a dedicated Røros to-and-from coach page. Entur stop **Røros lufthavn** (**NSR:StopPlace:59251**) exists; a live sample on research day showed no departures in 24 h — treat bus as optional live-check only. Default to taxi (~**2 km** into Røros) or a pre-booked Avis rental when listed. Parking is **OnePark**-operated (24/7 desk **64 81 19 80**). There is no rail link at the curb.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

UNESCO Røros / inland Trøndelag trips that want a tiny terminal
DAT PSO travellers connecting via Oslo Gardermoen
Travellers who will eat in town and use taxi, Avis, or OnePark

Watch out for

No passenger lounge — Priority Pass / LoungeKey will not help here
Avinor’s shopping directory lists no named café or kiosk (ItemList 0)
Contact page lists Saturday closed — do not invent weekend landside access
No published Avinor flybuss; Entur Røros lufthavn may show zero live buses
Highland weather at ~626 m on 13/31 still moves OSL connections in winter

Røros Airport (Norwegian Røros lufthavn), IATA **RRS** / ICAO **ENRO**, sits on Stormoen about **2 km** from Røros town centre in Trøndelag (UNESCO mining town). Visiting address **Grind-Olaveien 50, 7374 Røros**; postal **Avinor, Røros airport, PO Box 150, 2061 Gardermoen**. Official English hub: avinor.no/en/airport/roros/. Do not confuse it with Rørvik (**RVK**), Røst (**RET**), Namsos (**OSY**), or Trondheim Værnes (**TRD**).
Operator: **Avinor**. Official passengers-2025.xlsx (scheduled + non-scheduled roll-up, column S): **18,510** passengers in **2025** (**+1.8%** vs about **18,190** in **2024**). Terminal passengers (column N): **18,510**. Fully civilian Avinor regional field — not a military airbase. English Wikipedia: provisional field **1957**; asphalt runway upgrades completed **1963**. Public-service Oslo route currently flown by **DAT** (Danish Air Transport) — DAT’s Oslo destination page lists **Oslo–Røros** / **Røros–Oslo** from **695 NOK**; Norwegian Wikipedia notes DAT took the PSO from **1 April 2024** with roughly two weekday round-trips on ATR 42, no Saturday programme matching the published terminal closure.
One hard runway **13/31**. SkyVector / OurAirports publish about **5,643 × 131 ft** / **1,720 × 40 m** asphalt with displaced thresholds (OurAirports: about **197 ft** on 13 and **459 ft** on 31). English Wikipedia facilities cite physical about **1,740 × 40 m**, take-off run available about **1,640 m**, landing distance available about **1,580 m**, and ILS Category I — treat physical vs declared distances carefully and prefer the live AIP when dispatching. Field elevation about **626 m / 2,053–2,054 ft** MSL (Wikipedia / SkyVector / OurAirports).
No rail at the curb. Avinor currently publishes **no dedicated to-and-from / flybuss page** for Røros (404 on the usual English paths). Entur registers stop **Røros lufthavn** (**NSR:StopPlace:59251**); a live journey-planner sample on research day showed **no** estimated departures in the next 24 h — treat local bus as must-verify, not a flight-bank coach. Taxi remains the reliable default for the short hop into Røros (~**2 km**).
Security follows classic Avinor/Norwegian cabin liquids: containers in a clear resealable **≤1 L** bag (Avinor security page). Fast Track on that page is an **Oslo**-only product — do not expect OSL-style priority lanes at RRS. Free Wi‑Fi SSID **AIRPORT** (~**4 hours** after captive-portal accept). No passenger lounge is listed on Avinor’s Røros shopping page; Priority Pass / LoungeKey have nothing to redeem here.
Official shopping directory: Avinor’s Røros Shopping and food page currently lists **no named café, kiosk, or Tax Free shop** (schema.org ItemList **numberOfItems: 0**). Treat airside retail as absent and confirm on the day. Published terminal hours on the contact page: Mon–Thu **05:45–07:15**, **10:00–10:45**, **15:00–16:30**, **19:00–19:45**; Friday **06:00–07:30**, **10:00–10:45**, **15:00–16:30**, **19:00–19:45**; **Saturday closed**; Sunday **11:00–13:00**, **14:20–15:00**, **15:30–17:30**, **18:50–19:30**. Contact page also states the terminal opens when scheduled flights arrive or depart — re-check if DAT retimes a bank. Car hire on the Avinor page: **Avis** (logo listing only at research time — confirm desk hours against your flight). Parking is **OnePark**-operated (desk **64 81 19 80**, 24/7). Ground handling: **Røros Flyservice RRS AS** (**+47 72 41 39 00**).
