Compact terminal; coastal weather and OSL connections are the real delay modes.

SVG is a compact single passenger terminal, so security rarely feels like OSL. The schedule risk is Jæren wind/low cloud plus busy SVG–OSL banks and offshore helicopter movements on the shared field. If you connect to a long-haul over Gardermoen, keep an honest buffer even when the landside hall looks empty. International passengers should clear security with time for the non-domestic hold and North Sea Lounge if using it (paid access is capped at 3 or 6 hours before departure). Arrive earlier than the terminal size suggests whenever METAR looks ugly.

Single passenger terminal; heli terminal is crew-only; military side is not a shortcut.

Check-in and bag drop sit landside in the main passenger terminal; after security, follow domestic vs international / Schengen signage before you settle into a café. Gate calls still move — re-check screens for bus-gate walks. The offshore helicopter terminal is a separate facility for North Sea crew changes — irrelevant for SAS/Norwegian/Widerøe/KLM ticket holders. Sola Air Station shares the airfield; stay on yellow/passenger routes only. Scandic Stavanger Airport is a short walk from the terminal if you need a landside room, not a lounge substitute.

Solid named F&B (Barino, Crafts, Sirkus Renaa, Joe & The Juice); town food still beats a long hold.

Avinor’s shopping-and-food directory lists Joe & The Juice landside at check-in; airside international Barino (Italian/pinsa), Craft'n Draft gastropub, Point kiosks and Tax Free; domestic Crafts gastropub, Sirkus Renaa (pizza/pasta/pastry), Ark Bookstore, Æra fashion and Travel Value. Prices are full Norwegian-airport sticker shock — Stavanger’s harbour food still wins if your timetable allows. Lounge guests on international departures get the light-meal / soft-drink package inside North Sea Lounge.

Coach is the hotel workhorse; Kolumbus 42 is the value local bus; international-only lounge.

Default city transfer is Flybussen (~20–30 minutes per Avinor; Boreal contact +47 51 59 90 60). Kolumbus bus 42 covers Airport–Sola–Forus– Kvadrat–Sandnes for local network fares (adult singles from NOK 49; zone-dependent). Taxis use Fast Travel kiosks in arrivals and at the rank for an upfront price — mandatory quote rules tightened after Norway’s Nov 2024 taxi-law changes. North Sea Lounge is international airside only; Priority Pass is not on Avinor’s published partner list for SVG.
