Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

Match the published banks — Røst weather still owns the clock

Tiny terminal; Mon/Fri split banks, Saturday only 11:10–13:50, Sunday only 18:10–21:50, and outer-Lofoten STOL weather on ~880 m 03/21 are the real planning constraints.

RET is a one-terminal short-field airport, so walking times inside are short. The schedule risks are (1) Avinor’s published split banks on Monday and Friday (**07:10–09:15** / **19:10–21:50**), (2) Saturday’s short midday window only (**11:10–13:50**), (3) Sunday’s late-only hours (**18:10–21:50**), and (4) Vestfjorden / outer-Lofoten coastal weather on an asphalt STOL runway charted as **03/21** at about **880 × 30 m**. Overnight stays inside are not part of the published operating pattern — match arrivals to contact-page hours.

Terminal

One compact Røst passenger building — no second terminal myth

Single passenger terminal; no named airside shop on the current Avinor directory; walking distances are short.

Check-in, security, and the departure hold sit in a single Avinor passenger terminal at **Røst Airport, 8064 Røst**, on the north edge of Røstlandet just above the main village (English Wikipedia). There is no multi-pier campus and no airside train. English Wikipedia describes a simple terminal sized for about **40 passengers per hour** with apron space for one Dash 8-100-class airliner. Re-check screens when wind, low cloud, or sea spray slows the short runway. Air traffic services are remote-towered from Bodø.

Food

No named Avinor shop — eat in Røst village or on the aircraft

Avinor’s shopping page lists no café or kiosk; treat F&B as unreliable and plan village or onboard meals.

Official Avinor Shopping and food directory for Røst is empty of named outlets on the research day — no Narvesen, Point, Tax Free, or café title is published (ItemList `numberOfItems: 0`). Assume you may find nothing open after security and eat in Røstlandet village or accept airline catering. Confirm on the day rather than trusting third-party “airport restaurant” blogs.

Status

No lounge — taxi/prebook first; free parking on the Avinor/OnePark product

Zero lounges; free OnePark parking; prebooked taxi is the practical published ground default on this island STOL field.

There is no Priority Pass / LoungeKey / walk-up passenger lounge on current Avinor Røst shopping pages. Avinor has no live English collectively page for RET at research time; English Wikipedia’s practical note is that **taxis can be prebooked**. Entur stop **Røst lufthavn** (**NSR:StopPlace:722**) exists — verify live before you invent a bus. Parking on the Avinor parking page is **free** (own risk) with about **20** spaces cited in English Wikipedia; OnePark customer service is **64 81 19 80**. There is no rail link.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

Røst / outermost Lofoten trips on Widerøe Dash 8 PSO links via Bodø or Lofoten short-fields
Travelers who want zero terminal complexity and will eat in Røstlandet village
Self-drive or taxi visitors using free on-site parking next to the village

Watch out for

No passenger lounge — Priority Pass / LoungeKey will not help here
Avinor’s shopping page lists no named café or kiosk — do not plan an airside meal
Mon/Fri split banks 07:10–09:15 and 19:10–21:50; Saturday only 11:10–13:50; Sunday only 18:10–21:50
~880 m STOL runway (03/21) — Vestfjorden / outer-Lofoten weather regularly delays connections

Røst Airport (Norwegian Røst lufthavn / Røst Airport), IATA **RET** / ICAO **ENRS**, is a fully civilian Avinor regional STOL field on the northern edge of Røstlandet in Røst Municipality, Nordland, Norway — the outermost inhabited island group in the Lofoten chain. It serves the fishing village on Røstlandet (English Wikipedia places the field just north of the main settlement). Visiting address on Avinor’s contact page: **Røst Airport, 8064 Røst**; postal **Avinor, Røst Airport, PB 150, 2061 Gardermoen**. Official English hub: avinor.no/en/airport/rost/. Do not confuse it with Rørvik (**RVK** / Ryum), Røros (**RRS**), Leknes (**LKN**), Svolvær (**SVJ**), or Værøy Heliport (**VRY**). Fully civilian Avinor regional STOL field — not a military airbase.
Operator: **Avinor**. Official passengers-2025.xlsx roll-up (column S, scheduled + non-scheduled including transfer/transit): **11,441** passengers in **2025** (**−11.7%** YoY on that column). Terminal passengers (column N): **7,460**. Scheduled arrived/departed (column C): **7,392**. Opened **1 June 1986** together with Værøy’s then-airport programme (English / Norwegian Wikipedia); state/Avinor ownership after the mid-1990s regional-airport nationalisation wave. Tower is **remotely controlled from Bodø** (English Wikipedia). Avinor schema.org on the hub publishes IATA **RET** / ICAO **ENRS** with coordinates about **67.5278°N, 12.1033°E**.
One asphalt runway **03/21**. English Wikipedia (AIP-derived) lists **880 × 30 m** (**2,887 × 98 ft**). SkyVector / OurAirports cards for **ENRS** sit in the same ~**880 m** STOL class — treat small metre/foot card differences as charting/rounding, not a second runway. Field elevation about **3 m / 10 ft** AMSL (Wikipedia / Avinor-linked AIP tradition). Exposed Atlantic / Vestfjorden island weather on a sub-kilometre strip is first-class schedule risk. Largest type commonly cited for the field is Widerøe’s Dash 8-100 class (English Wikipedia).
No rail at the curb. Entur/NSR registers stop **Røst lufthavn** (**NSR:StopPlace:722**) at the airport. Avinor does **not** currently publish a dedicated English “to and from / collectively” page for Røst (404 at research time). English Wikipedia states **taxis can be prebooked** and that there is **free parking for about 20 vehicles**. Private car + prebooked taxi are the practical defaults on this tiny island — verify any bus claim live on Entur before you skip a taxi booking.
Security follows classic Avinor/Norwegian cabin liquids: containers in a clear resealable **≤1 L** bag (Avinor security page). Fast Track on that page is an **Oslo**-only product — do not expect OSL-style priority lanes at RET. Free Wi‑Fi SSID **AIRPORT** (~**4 hours** after captive-portal accept, same Avinor Wi‑Fi product page as other Avinor fields). No passenger lounge is listed on Avinor’s Røst shopping page.
Official shopping directory: Avinor’s Røst Shopping and food page currently lists **no named café, kiosk, or Tax Free shop** (ItemList `numberOfItems: 0`). Treat airside retail as absent and confirm on the day. Hub airline on Avinor’s airline strip / Wikipedia at research time is **Widerøe** on PSO-style Nordland short-haul (commonly described toward **Bodø** and Lofoten links such as **Leknes** / **Svolvær** — confirm the live board). Published terminal hours (contact page): Mon/Fri **07:10–09:15** and **19:10–21:50**; Tue–Thu **07:10–21:50**; Sat **11:10–13:50**; Sun **18:10–21:50**. Parking is **free** on site; **OnePark** runs the product (customer service 24/7 on **64 81 19 80**). Widerøe Ground Handling is the published fixed-wing handler (**+47 98 90 15 66**).
