Follow signs to the Airport Metro station attached to the terminal. Trains run into Newcastle (Haymarket, Monument, Central Station) in about 25 minutes from roughly early morning until around midnight — confirm the first/last train for your day on Nexus. From 1 April 2026, Mayor’s Fares cap adult Pop Pay As You Go singles at £2.50 and day travel at £5 no matter how many Metro zones you cross; under-21 Pop products stay at £1 single (Travel North East / Nexus). Paper tickets from the machine cost more than the Pop cap, so get or top up a Pop PAYG card (or Pop in Google Wallet on Android) rather than buying paper if you can. Arrow Cars holds the exclusive on-site taxi pick-up outside arrivals with fixed all-in quotes — use the arrivals desk or kiosk rather than assuming a metered street rank.

Newcastle’s single security hall uses next-generation CT scanners, and lane staff often let laptops and small liquids stay in the bag when signs say so — still follow the tray instructions on the day. Separately, the UK 100 ml per container liquids rule remains in force at NCL in 2026; do not assume the 2 L relaxation used at some other UK CT airports applies here. Fast Track is a paid priority queue (Holiday Extras and similar partners commonly from about £6–£7 online; walk-up is usually dearer). It is most useful for 05:00–08:00 leisure banks and school-holiday peaks; average waits are often short off-peak, so skip it if the main queue looks light.

After security, turn left past duty free, take the escalator/lift down one level — Aspire Lounge is on the right (Priority Pass location notes). Opening hours move by day and season (Priority Pass recently lists roughly 04:00–20:30 Mon/Sun, 04:00–20:00 Tue, 04:00–21:00 Wed–Fri, 04:00–18:00 Sat; closed 25 Dec; doors often close 30 minutes before listed close). Peak entry restrictions are commonly flagged Wed 07:00–10:00, Fri 13:00–16:00 and Sun 12:00–16:00 — pre-book if your card programme allows. Luxe and Suite by Aspire are paid upgrades from the main room (reviewers cite roughly mid-teens £ for Luxe and low-twenties £ for Suite on top of a Priority Pass visit — confirm today’s Aspire tariff). Aster & Thyme on Level 2 after duty free is a Priority Pass dining experience: £18 off the bill per visit entitlement, not a soft-seat lounge.

Empty bottle + airside café refill beats repeat bottled-water buys.

NCL has historically pointed passengers to airside cafés, bars and restaurants for free tap refills rather than a dense fountain grid — bring an empty bottle, clear the 100 ml rule, then ask politely for a refill. Landside WHSmith / cafés are the cheaper place to buy a sealed bottle if you do not want to hunt after screening. Airside food is a compact UK high-street mix plus Aster & Thyme for a sit-down meal with a view.
