Baku's hub is a 2014 Autoban hall plus a still-live Terminal 2: international check-in is T1 or T2 North, five 24/7 Priority Pass rooms with a 2-hour cap, and a 1.30 AZN Aero Express — paid for with dual security, an e-visa you must print, and no metro.
An editorial 0–10 score. The overall is exactly the weighted sum of six traveler categories — not a Google rating and not a poll.

Most important tips
A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.
Airport: 2 h Europe/CIS, 3 h intercontinental; desks close 60 minutes out. International check-in is T1 or T2 North — leftover 'T2 is domestic only' puts you in the wrong building.
T1 check-in is ground-floor Zones A/B; T2 North check-in is on level 2. AZAL, Turkish and Kuwait have kiosks in both international halls. Read live FIDS before you commit to a hall.
T1 is the Autoban oak-cocoon hall (first flight 23 April 2014 to SAW; all international moved here 1 December 2014). T2 North still handles international; T2 South is domestic.
The halls are about 200 m apart on the same forecourt — there is no airside walk. Nakhchivan J2 banks print T2 South on the live board. Gate signs in T1 still split 13–14 vs 15–16.
The useful kitchen is T1 airside 3F: Xurcun, Room, PAUL, The Attack, plus Ay Qonshu on 4F. Landside McDonald's is T1 2F.
T2's Cafe City / 7/Sky / Chinar sit landside on international departures 2F — fine before you clear, useless after. Harvest & Vine is T1 3F Zone A public, so it is not an airside option.
Ordinary UK, EU and US passports need evisa.gov.az (USD 20 + USD 5, 3 working days, print it). Turkey, Georgia, Russia and most CIS are visa-free.
FCDO: passport valid 6 months after arrival. Airport VOA is only for a short list (Gulf states, Japan, China, Korea, Singapore, Israel, Indonesia, Malaysia). Leftover US VOA on a New York–Baku flight is not live. Formula 1 VOA is 25 August–30 September 2026 only.

4 ways into the city, compared on time, cost, and luggage.
5 lounges with access rules, hours, and verdicts. 1 rated worth it.
Open the live departures board before you leave the curb. International J2, TK, W6, FZ and friends flip between Terminal 1 and T2 North; Nakhchivan prints T2 South. Leftover blog copy that "T2 is domestic only" is leftover-wrong.

Compare prepaid private transfers to Baku — useful overnight, with luggage, or when you want a locked-in fare before you land.
24/7 airport coach on a BakıKart: 1.30 AZN per ride, ~30 minutes to 28 May metro/railway.
Tip: Card itself is 2 AZN; a single-trip card is 1.50 AZN. Buy at the machine — cash on the bus is leftover-unpublished. 06:00–23:15 every 20 minutes, then every 45 minutes overnight. bakubus.az.
Red TX4 / LEVC London cabs at the Terminal 1 exit, 2nd line, plus a booth and call centre 1000.
Tip: Kilometre bands exist on the airport taxi page but the AZN cells did not render this pass — do not invent leftover 30–40 AZN. Typical leftover 10–20 AZN / 25–40 min to the Old City is a traveler report, not the booth list.
Bolt lists GYD pickups. Follow the in-app pin, not indoor touts. Leftover global Uber vs local Uber AZ is leftover-conflicting.
Tip: Typical leftover 10–20 AZN / 25–40 min to the Old City on traveler reports — sit the app quote. After midnight, sit official Baku Taxi if the app is empty.
T1 835 spaces, T2 1,166. First 15 minutes free; 14–24 hours 15 AZN; each following day +15 AZN (from 7 November 2023).
Tip: Intermediate 0–2 / 2–4 / 12–14 hour bands exist on the page but the AZN cells did not render — do not invent leftover 2 AZN/hour. Pay cash, card, Tezöde, AzParkinq or Birbank. Drop-off Line 3 is 3 minutes, no parking.
The default T1 airside room: 24/7, Level 4 by Gate N1, alcohol on Priority Pass. Reviews sit around 3.1 and the stay is only 2 hours — still the best of the five PP options.

Add a photoPriority Pass lists soft drinks, not alcohol. Staff want your bag tags so a porter can bring the hold bags to the room. Two-hour cap, ground floor after passport control.

Add a photoSame 2-hour Priority Pass clock as Absheron, but it publishes sleep pods and sits at Gates 14–15. Sit here for the nap, Absheron for the drink near N1.

Add a photoHighest Priority Pass score on the field (about 3.9) because it is quiet — and landside. Once you clear the first security you cannot walk back in. International only.

Absheron (T1 Level 4 / Gate N1, alcohol), Premium Bank (Gates 14–15, sleep pods), Salam (T1 landside Zone B), Baku Club (T1 after passport), Mugam (T2 airside 2F). All PP stays are 2 hours.
Xurcun, Room, PAUL Azerbaijan and The Attack sit on T1 3F after passport control; Ay Qonshu is on 4F. Eat here, not at T2 landside Cafe City.
T1 3F airside after passport control (pre-order leftover mydutyfree.net). T1 arrivals also has a Duty Free island by carousel 3.
GoSleep capsules were photographed airside in T1 in 2019; current till AZN is unpublished. Premium Bank's Priority Pass page still lists complimentary sleep pods inside that lounge.
1.30 AZN BakıKart coach 24/7 to 28 May metro/railway (~30 min), or red TX4/LEVC taxis at the Terminal 1 rank. Bolt is confirmed. No metro to the airport.
International check-in is Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 North — leftover 'T2 is domestic only' puts you in the wrong building.
Airport: 2 hours for Europe/CIS, 3 hours for intercontinental; desks close 60 minutes out. T1 check-in is ground-floor Zones A/B; T2 North check-in is on level 2. There is no airside walk between halls.
AZAL, Turkish and Kuwait have kiosks in both international halls.
A connection that changes halls is a landside/security/passport loop.
Landside inspection before check-in, then a second X-ray and passport control. Empty the bottle at the second checkpoint.
100 ml LAG bag (20 × 20 cm). Fast-track price is unpublished. Passport desks split Azerbaijan / Foreign / Diplomatic / Fast Track / PRM. E-gates leftover for foreigners are not published.
The airport hands you a LAG bag if you forgot.
A half-full 200 ml bottle still counts as 200 ml.
Priority Pass default after T1 passport is Absheron on Level 4 by Gate N1. Salam is landside Zone B — useless once you have cleared security.
Premium Bank at Gates 14–15 publishes sleep pods. Baku Club is ground floor by Duty Free (soft drinks, porter). T2 North: Mugam, 2F opposite Duty Free. All five rooms are 24/7 with a 2-hour PP cap.
Absheron lists alcohol on Priority Pass.
Domestic T2 South has no Priority Pass listing.
H1 Aero Express is 1.30 AZN on a BakıKart (card 2 AZN) or 1.50 AZN on a single-trip card. Cash on the bus is leftover-unpublished.
Stops: 28 May / central railway, Koroğlu metro, Surakhani bridge, T2, T1. Official Baku Taxi is the red TX4/LEVC rank at Terminal 1 (call 1000). Bolt is the confirmed app. Leftover global Uber is leftover-conflicting.
H1 runs 24/7 — every 20 minutes by day, every 45 overnight.
No metro and no airport rail. Parking 14–24 h is 15 AZN; first 15 minutes free.
Official copy: drinking fountains in all airside areas of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, for departing and arriving passengers
The cheapest hydrate after the second X-ray empties the bottle. The page does not pin a gate number — walk the hold rather than buying first.
PAUL, Room, Xurcun or The Attack on T1 3F international departures after passport control
The 3F airside strip is the bottle fallback after security. No reliable posted AZN this pass.
McDonald's on T1 2F landside; Starbucks on T1 2F (official cafe list)
Only useful before the first security — that checkpoint still empties a full bottle. Do not count on taking it airside.
Cafe City Bistro / 7/Sky / Chinar on T2 2F international departures landside
T2 international landside cafés before passport control. After you go airside, sit Mugam or the T2 fountains instead.
