Domestic can look short while U.S. morning banks stretch curb-to-gate—do not copy a quiet midday hop onto LAX or ORD.
Aim ~2 hours for straightforward domestic Volaris/Viva hops; 2.5–3 hours for U.S. or other international when morning banks and holidays stack check-in, security, and the long upper-level gate walk.

Landside is shared, but after security you are locked into domestic or international sterile flow. Confirm the boarding-pass stream before you queue; re-clearing is the expensive mistake on tight connections.

GAP’s directory clusters Wings (24h at the inspection food court / lower ambulatory), Subway (waiting room B 24h; room C daytime), Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Carl’s Jr., Johnny Rockets, Sbarro, The Urban Corner, and Ciénaga mostly post-security in waiting rooms B/C—landside is thinner for a full meal.
