Winter-sun UK/DE changeover mornings are when FUE feels smaller than its passenger count—arrive earlier than the resort transfer suggests.

FUE is a classic northern-European leisure gateway: Ryanair, Jet2, easyJet, TUI/Condor and other holiday carriers stack early and late banks—especially winter-sun Saturdays—while Binter/Canaryfly handle the Gran Canaria / Tenerife North hops. Build about 2.5 hours for peak non-Schengen departures; quiet midweek Schengen and inter-island troughs are gentler.

Compact single-terminal campus: the failure mode is underestimating non-Schengen passport/EES time after security, not finding the right building.

Landside is a single check-in / bag-drop hall (desks 1–66, including special-baggage desks). After security you enter a shared airside commercial spine before Schengen boarding or passport/EES for non-Schengen. Follow gate letters and border signs before settling into a café—the failure mode is lingering pre-border when your UK flight needs passport control.

Functional leisure-airport F&B—not a food destination. Plan calories before security or inside Jable.

Expect Spanish airport chains, coffee counters and grab-and-go after screening. Jable VIP Lounge is the calm food-and-drink reset if you have Priority Pass / LoungeKey or buy Aena day entry; otherwise eat a real meal before security when FIDS is solid UK/DE metal.

Delays are usually people-processing and wind-on-the-runway edge cases—pad the landside clock and verify you are booked into FUE.

One active commercial runway (01R/19L) and usually mild Atlantic weather keep ops steadier than fog-prone island peers, but calima dust, strong trade-wind crosswinds and stacked leisure departures still bite. Check Aena FIDS and your airline app before leaving the hotel—and confirm FUE, not ACE / LPA / TFS.
