BTS · Compact single-terminal Slovak capital gateway and Vienna’s budget overflow field: short walks, classic 100 ml security despite CT scanners, cheap bus 61 into Bratislava, and a small Menzies Pearl Lounge — strong on simplicity, light on food theatre.
VIE · Compact Star Alliance hub with CT screening and a standout VIENNA Lounge; CAT is a bus and S7 stops at St. Marx through Oct 2027.

Arrive ~2 hours early — airport messaging is explicit
Plan ~2 hours; LCCs want online check-in; CT lanes still enforce 100 ml liquids — do not assume a 2 L waiver.
One terminal — Schengen vs non-Schengen after security
Single 2012 terminal; confirm Schengen vs non-Schengen before you settle — Pearl Lounge is airside 2F after security.
Landside cafés beat most airside options for a real bite
Compact LCC terminal food; landside or the city wins a real meal — lounge snacks help cardholders.
VIE
FastTrack SecurityVIENNA LoungeRailjet / REX7Airside T3 diningFree Wi-FiCT cabin screening
Two hours for Schengen, 2.5 hours if you clear passport control
CT screening is quick off-peak; the 06:00–09:00 bank and G-gate walks still eat the buffer.
T3 F/G for Austrian and Star; T1 C/D for most everyone else
Lounges sit before passport control. A landside mix-up between T1 and T1A check-in is the usual mistake.
Eat airside in T3, or spend the lounge credit on VIENNA Lounge
The T3 plaza has the widest public food. VIENNA Lounge is the better buffet if you already hold access.
