Arrive 2 hours — TSA opens with the bank
Official travel-resources and FAQ cards both say two hours before scheduled departure; the checkpoint opens two hours prior to scheduled departures, not on a printed 4:00 a.m. clock.
One 24-hour building, 11 gates, outdoor courtyards
Charles L. Williams Terminal is a single sterile walk after one TSA. Official FAQ prints 11 gates; outdoor courtyards sit on the west side near Gates 7–8 and the South Concourse.
Eat after TSA — Macayo’s, Panera, O.H.S.O.
Official restaurants card names Macayo’s Mexican Food at Gate 5, Panera between Gates 6 and 7, and O.H.S.O. Brewery between Gates 7 and 8, plus First Jet Market at Gate 2.

Checkpoints open by 4:00 a.m.; arrive 90 minutes, 2 hours early
Official A/B TSA portals generally open by 04:00 and close with the last departure. TAA says 90 minutes is usually enough; 2 hours for 06:00–08:00 weekday departures and holidays.
Two portals, not connected after TSA
B is first on the inbound roadway (Alaska, American, Delta). A is east (Southwest, Sun Country, United). You cannot walk between A and B without reclearing.
El Charro and Beyond Bread are the B-side locals
Official B-gate pins: El Charro Café 05:00–last departure, Beyond Bread 04:30–17:30, BUILT Custom Burgers 10:00–18:00. Landside Barrio Brewing (ticketing) is 07:00–17:00.
AZA · A 24-hour one-terminal Allegiant field in southeast Mesa: two-hour clock, no lounge, $10 economy parking, and a Valley Metro stop at the curb — far from downtown Phoenix and not Sky Harbor.
TUS · A compact two-level desert X with real local food and a fare-free bus — undone by two disconnected TSA portals, no passenger lounge, and a storm-closed economy-covered lot.
