Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

Three hours for US and overseas

Pearson still posts short security waits; US CBP is the real variable.

Use the official wait dashboard. Domestic is usually the fastest lane.

Terminal

T1 and T3 do not connect after security

The Link Train is landside. Wrong terminal means reclearing.

Air Canada is T1. WestJet and many others are T3. Confirm on the boarding pass.

Food

Maple Leaf beats Plaza Premium when you qualify

Plaza Premium is the independent PP network. Maple Leaf is Air Canada / Star / eligible CSR.

T1 international Plaza Premium remains temporarily closed on our directory and is absent from live PP.

Status

IFC lounge is a gate lottery

Live PP lists Plaza Premium in the Infield Concourse 15:00–22:30, shuttle from T1 or T3.

IFC gates are assigned operationally. Do not plan a visit unless the boarding pass already shows an IFC gate.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

Efficient security screening
Direct downtown rail link
Diverse local food options
Lounge variety for premium passengers

Watch out for

Terminal splits requiring landside transfers
Crowded Plaza Premium lounges at peak times
US CBP processing variability
Higher taxi/ride-share costs during surges

Updated Sep 15, 2026

Two passenger terminals (T1 and T3) plus a bus-only Infield Concourse
GTAA: 47.3 million passengers in 2025 (17.2M domestic / 30.1M international; 392,500 movements)
Link Train connects T1 and T3 landside in about 2 minutes — no airside walk between terminals
UP Express to Union: 28 minutes; CAD 12.35 adult or CAD 9.25 PRESTO/contactless; children 12 and under free
Live Priority Pass Plaza Premium rooms are split by domestic / US / international zone; T1 international Plaza Premium stays temporarily closed
A Plaza Premium in the IFC (15:00–22:30) is on live PP — only useful if your gate is bus-accessed there
