Domestic CATSA can look short while Concourse E preclearance is the real bottleneck—do not copy a quiet domestic buffer onto a Denver or Chicago bank.
Aim ~90–120 minutes for straightforward domestic; add a dedicated CBP cushion for U.S. departures and more again for long-haul D-gate banks, especially summer peaks and Stampede week.
Pick the correct security product from your boarding pass. Elevation Lounge and Maple Leaf sit on the domestic side; U.S. flyers need Aspire after CBP on E.
Domestic A/B/C and non-U.S. international D can connect airside on many itineraries, but Concourse E is behind U.S. preclearance. Wrong stream means exiting and re-clearing.
Domestic and D-gate dining is denser than post-CBP E. If you need a real meal before a U.S. departure, eat before preclearance or accept thinner options after.
Landside is mostly a pass-through. Once airside, look for named options (Chili’s, Vin Room, Phil & Sebastian, Wolfgang Puck on E, and similar) on the official dining map for your concourse.
Elevation (B) takes Priority Pass but blocks U.S. departures. Aspire D/E cover international and transborder PP. Maple Leaf (C) is Air Canada/Star pathways only.
WestJet status and 787 business guests get Elevation without PP; capacity can refuse Priority Pass first. Confirm hours in the Priority Pass / airline apps day-of—Aspire International closes mid-evening.
