A compact two-level terminal with one CATSA, no U.S. preclearance, and a real Air Canada Café since June 2026 — easy to use, still waiting on the paid Boréal lounge, and winter-operated.
An editorial 0–10 score. The overall is exactly the weighted sum of six traveler categories — not a Google rating and not a poll.

Most important tips
A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.
Level-2 CATSA is the whole sterile job. There is no 16:30 CBP trap here because there is no preclearance.
Official counters generally open 3 hours before international flights and 2 hours before transborder/domestic, and usually close an hour before departure — confirm with the airline. Live CATSA PBS waits post on catsa-acsta.gc.ca; a daytime snapshot in this research window was 5–10 minutes, overnight can read Not available.
Bags, ICE, taxis, Nourcy, and the RTC machine sit on the ground floor. After CATSA you are on the second-floor holdroom around Gates 29–37.
One sterile side after the single checkpoint. Wrong-level panic is the usual first-timer mistake, not a second terminal.
Sit-down is Blaxton at Gate 33 (from 03:30 until the last flight). A&W is Gate 30 (03:00–20:00). Brûlerie Rousseau par Nourcy is Gate 32 (03:00–20:00).
Landside Nourcy Café Traiteur (03:30–20:00, ground floor by check-in) is for meeters. Lobbie is still not a live restaurant. Duty Free at Gate 33 follows international banks only.
The 97-seat Café at Gate 29 opened 16 Jun 2026. Club Med is boarded up. Boréal is still a fall-2026 card.
Eligible Aeroplan 50K+, Star Gold, premium Aeroplan cobrand cards, and Business on Air Canada / Star Alliance from YQB. Generic Air Canada Café boilerplate still says “domestic only” — the 16 Jun 2026 YQB press is the location-specific rule. DragonPass is not on today’s official Café pages.

Counter between international arrivals and ICE on level 1; cars at the door. Downtown zone $41.40 day / $47.60 night.
Tip: Sainte-Foy is a cheaper published zone on the same official page — read the posted card. Night is 23:00–05:00.
Official page: both serve YQB. Book in the app; it names the meeting point.
Tip: Do not invent a column number from a third-party guide. Compare the live quote to the $41.40 downtown taxi zone before you walk past the stand.
Proxi walkway 2–7 min (prepaid $129/8 days Apr–Oct). Econo 7–20 min walk ($89/8 days prepaid). Short-Term $5 / first 15 min, 2 h max. Waiting Area 1 h free.
Tip: Card only. Four RéseauVER chargers on Proxi L1 — membership required, billed the whole time plugged in. Prepaid QR cancelable up to two hours before arrival.

Two airside rooms: washrooms across from Gate 31, and near Gates 34–35. Play area is being moved toward Gates 36–37.
One CATSA on level 2. You clear U.S. CBP after you land in the United States.
Official FAQ is explicit. 2016–2019 political announcements never became a facility. NEXUS / Aeroplan Elite / Business / families use the published priority line — still not a U.S. stream.
No 16:30 CBP cutoff of the Halifax kind.
A JFK or EWR arrival still means a U.S. immigration line over there.
Air Canada Café is the only open room. Club Med died 3 Aug 2025. Boréal is still a fall-2026 card.
Walk between Gates 28 and 29, 04:00–20:00, if you have 50K+ / Star Gold / a listed Aeroplan cobrand / Business on AC or Star from YQB. Do not scan a PP QR at a boarded-up Club Med door.
First dedicated premium room the terminal has ever had.
No published day pass and no PP, LoungeKey, or DragonPass on the official cards.
Machine opposite check-in; 76 for Sainte-Foy, 80 for downtown via Les Saules.
Cash on the bus is $4.00 exact. Downtown taxi is a posted $41.40 day / $47.60 night zone from the level-1 counter. Uber and Lyft both serve YQB — the app places the car.
Cheapest real path off the airport.
80 is not a 15-minute metro; budget a transfer on 800/801.
The live official set is Blaxton, A&W, Brûlerie Rousseau, and landside Nourcy.
Lobbie is not a live restaurant card. Duty Free at Gate 33 follows international banks only. Refill after CATSA; YQB does not map the fillers.
Blaxton from 03:30 until the last flight is a real plate.
Do not plan on Tim Hortons or a 2017 food-court photo.
Official security page — refill after the level-2 checkpoint at unmarked water stations in the holdroom
Empty or dump liquids before CATSA, then refill airside. YQB does not publish a filler map; a 2019 airport-supplied note only said stations exist on both sides. Hunt the restrooms near Gates 29–33 rather than treating that 2019 pin as a live map.
After security, official pin near Gate 32
Earliest official airside coffee (03:00–20:00, or until the last flight). Sealed bottles when you cannot find a filler.
After security, official pin near Gate 30
Official 03:00–20:00. Fine if you are already buying breakfast; not the value play versus a filler.
Ground floor before security, between check-in and international arrivals
Useful for meeters. You will dump liquids at CATSA, so this is not the departing-passenger value play. Official 03:30–20:00 plus evening check-in coverage on large-capacity flights; 24/7 coffee and fresh-product vending on that same landside card.
