Non-Schengen passport control sits after security — morning and Sunday LCC banks feel like a mini-hub, not a sleepy regional field.

Liquids still follow the classic ≤100 ml containers in one 1 L clear bag rule (airport FAQ citing the EU directive). After X-ray you hit passport control into the departures hall. Wizz and Ryanair banks can stack both queues — aim to be landside about two hours before a busy low-cost departure; 90 minutes can work off-peak with mobile boarding and cabin bags only. Follow live airline bag-drop cut-offs; they are often tighter than the security queue alone suggests.

Landside covers check-in islands, bag drop, and the central security filter. Airside is one continuous departures side after immigration — Aelia duty free, cafés/bars, and gates. Priority Pass directions for Scanderbeg VIP Lounge: left after security and passport control, ground floor opposite Gate 3 (the airport’s own page also says “2nd floor / departures side” — follow the signed lounge once you are airside). Walks are short by European capital-airport standards; the time sink is the landside queue, not the pier.

Airside F&B covers cafés, bars, and duty free — fine for a snack, thinner when three Wizz flights board at once.

Landside and airside both have cafés/bars plus Aelia duty free. It is enough for coffee and a quick bite, not a destination food hall. Priority Pass / lounge-network holders usually do better in the Business / Scanderbeg lounge (hot and cold dishes, soft drinks, standard alcohol) than at the gate counters during a peak bank. Free drinking fountains are not a marketed airside amenity — buy a sealed bottle landside or budget for retail airside; empty reusable bottles still have to clear the 100 ml lane.

Cars are yellow with Auto Holiday Albania (AHA) and airport branding — book ahead via tiataxi.al / the published call centre if you want a fixed pickup. Centre runs are published around ~2,200 ALL and 20–25 minutes in normal traffic; confirm before you load. For the budget ride, LU-NA’s Rinas Express is 400 ALL / €4, hourly on the hour both ways 24/7, city stop behind the Palace of Opera and Ballet near Skanderbeg Square (~30–40 minutes).
