Tan Son Nhat International Airport security wait times

What a normal day looks like at security here, and how to get through faster.

Flying from SGN?

Enter your flight for a door-to-door plan: when to leave, security, the lounge you can use and your gate. No account needed.

On a typical day

~20 min through security at SGN, from our airport directory. Early mornings and holiday weekends run longer.

Budget that on top of check-in or bag drop and the walk to your gate. For your exact leave-home time, enter your flight above: the plan uses the live wait when there is one.

Be at T3 about 2 hours early. CAA Vietnam asks T3 passengers to arrive about 2 hours before departure and to use online or kiosk check-in.

How to get through faster at SGN

Read T1 vs T3 on the ticket, not "domestic." From 13 January 2026, CAA Vietnam says all Vietjet domestic flights check in at Hall A, Terminal 1. Vietnam Airlines Group, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines operate domestic flights from T3 (mid-August 2025 moves; SGGP 22 August 2025: Vietjet is the only airline left at T1). Going to the wrong building costs more time than most security queues.
Terminal 2 (T2) — international. All arrivals from abroad clear immigration here. Lounges are after immigration. Traveler reports still prefer the quieter of the two Vietnam Airlines Lotus rooms when both are open; follow T2 signs rather than blogs for today's door.
Terminal 3 (T3) — new domestic terminal, inaugurated 19 April 2025 (Prime Minister attending). Designed capacity 20 million passengers a year; ACV put the airport's total capacity at about 50 million after T3. Five floors, own check-in, security, and gates. Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, VASCO, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines use T3 for domestic flying as of the August 2025 airline/airport notices. Vietnam Airlines also moved Con Dao (VCS), Ca Mau (CAH), and Rach Gia (VKG) here from 04:00 on 19 August 2025 (VietnamNet, citing the group plan) — the May 2025 CAA notice that kept those ATR72 routes at T1 is stale.
