Building and F&B track the departure programme — peak Christmas traffic is crowded and slow; off-peak banks are compact and quick.

Finavia’s contacts page: the terminal opens 2 hours before departing flights and closes after the last arrival/departure. Ahkio opens 1 h 45 min before departures; Köngäs and the shop are flight-tied. Off-peak HEL turnarounds are calm; late November–early January charter banks can fill every seat and queue. Aim earlier than a typical regional Finnish airport in peak Santa season.

Single terminal; navigation is easy — Lapland airport-code mix-ups are the costly error.

Check-in, security, Ahkio, the shop, and jet-bridge / apron gates share one terminal. The October 2025 landside expansion added queue space, not a second terminal. Mixing up RVN with Kittilä (KTT), Ivalo (IVL), Kuusamo (KAO), or Kemi-Tornio (KEM) on a Lapland multi-airport trip is the expensive failure mode — those are separate road journeys across the north.

Two real cafés cover landside and airside, but neither is a 24/7 food court.

Before security: Köngäs Cafe (bakery goods, coffee, snacks; seasonal kebab). After security: Ahkio Kitchen and Bar (salmon soup, pizza, reindeer / smoked-cheese / veggie burgers, salads; opens 1 h 45 min before flights). Shop Rovaniemi for souvenirs and tax-free spirits when departures are running. Eat in town before very early or last-of-day flights if you need a guaranteed meal.

No PP / LoungeKey / published pay-in club at RVN — budget time and snacks, not lounge access.

Priority Pass’s Finland lounge directory lists Helsinki only. Finavia does not publish a pay-in or airline club lounge page for RVN. Plan on Ahkio / gate seats for the wait; Finnair business benefits on RVN–HEL metal are limited (often economy equipment) — any lounge entitlement usually applies on a later HEL long-haul segment, not here.
