Orenburg, Russia · Europe
Orenburg's Gagarin airport moved into a bright new four-storey terminal in summer 2026, with jet bridges, a separate international area, two business lounges and a free mother-and-child room. Most flights go to Moscow and St Petersburg; international routes run to Almaty, Baku, Antalya and Sharm el-Sheikh. The city is far away and buses are rare, and drone-alert airspace closures can halt flights for hours. Foreign visitors need a visa and Russian payment methods.
An editorial 0–10 score. The overall is exactly the weighted sum of six traveler categories — not a Google rating and not a poll.

Most important tips
A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.
Arrive 2–3 hours early; check-in closes 40 minutes before departure.
The airport says check-in usually opens about 3 hours before departure and closes 40 minutes before; your airline sets the exact times. It recommends arriving 2–3 hours before your flight. Flights can be held for hours when Rosaviatsia closes the airspace (the 'Kovyor' plan, used several times in 2026), so check the online departures board before you leave.
Everything is in the new terminal; international gates are on the 4th floor.
Since summer 2026 all flights use the new four-storey terminal. Check-in, baggage reclaim and the information desk are on the 1st floor. Customs and border control are on the 3rd floor, and the international departure lounge with its own business lounge is on the 4th floor. Eight of the 23 check-in positions are self-service kiosks, where you can also print bag tags; tagged bags go to desks 17 and 18.
A small choice of food and local souvenir shops; hours not confirmed.
The airport's terminal map lists the Kochevniki restaurant and the 'Gastronom' café, plus gift shops selling Orenburg souvenirs and the region's famous downy shawls, and vending machines. We could not confirm opening hours or prices.
Two business lounges for Russian lounge cards or walk-in payment; no Priority Pass.
There are two business lounges: one for domestic flights on the 3rd floor and one for international flights on the 4th floor. Business-class passengers, airline loyalty-programme members and holders of Russian lounge cards such as ON PASS, Grey Wall and Persona.aero can use them free, and anyone else can pay. Priority Pass is not listed. Published walk-in prices differ between the airport and resellers, so check before you go.
