From Best Airport Tricks & Hacks

One terminal to find — but treat domestic airside and international airside as different security environments. After the main screen you are domestic; international needs the FIDS call plus a second outbound screening / Border Force bank.
There is no sterile domestic↔international walk. Connecting passengers exit to landside inside the same building and re-clear — budget passport / customs time, not a pier stroll.
The airport’s international journey page recommends 3 hours before passport flights so you can clear both screens; the FAQ still quotes airline check-in guidance of 2 hours international / 60 minutes domestic.
Route 777 + G:link is the budget default under Queensland’s permanent 50-cent Translink fares (locked in law Jun 2026). Tap contactless or go card; buy/top-up go cards at WHSmith in Domestic Arrivals.
Priority Pass and LoungeKey are not a soft lounge here — A$36 restaurant credit at The Sand Bar (domestic Gate 16) or Wollumbin (intl Gates 38–39). DragonPass does not list Gold Coast. American Express-issued Priority Pass cards often exclude restaurant credits.
From 1 Jul 2026, Qantas Club / Gold / Platinum travelers lose lounge access on international Jetstar metal (Platinum One excepted). Domestic Jetstar and Qantas codeshares still follow the live matrix.
Northern Bays Phase 1 opened early August 2026 (Gates 4 and 5, covered walkways, airside Quiet Room, airside pet-relief area). Remaining works run through end of 2026.
Terminal is not 24h — open 04:00–23:00; overnight stays inside are banned. A federal curfew restricts most jet movements 23:00–06:00 Queensland time.

NavigationTraveler Tips & Hacks

One terminal, two security banks

Domestic airside after the main screen; international needs a second outbound bank.

Wait for the FIDS “Please proceed to international” message before leaving the domestic lounge. The airport’s international journey page recommends 3 hours. Same-day domestic↔intl connections still exit landside and re-clear — there is no sterile passport walk.

Pro

No wrong-building risk like BNE

Watch-out

International still adds a full second screen + Border Force

TransportTraveler Tips & Hacks

Take the 50-cent 777 to the tram

Route 777 to Broadbeach South then G:link north — flat A$0.50 per Translink tap.

Airport cites 05:15–23:30 service with 15-minute frequency 06:30–20:30. Tap contactless or go card; WHSmith in Domestic Arrivals sells/tops up go cards. Surfers is commonly ~30 minutes by car if luggage is heavy.

Pro

Cheapest SEQ airport public hop after the permanent 50c law

Watch-out

No rail at the terminal — bus first always

03

LoungeTraveler Tips & Hacks

Soft lounges beat restaurant credit

Qantas Club and Virgin Australia Lounge are the only soft rooms; PP/LK is A$36 dine credit.

Virgin single-entry is A$65 adult / A$45 child when capacity allows. From 1 Jul 2026 Qantas Club/Gold/Platinum travelers lose lounge access on international Jetstar metal (Platinum One excepted).

Pro

Two shower-equipped airline rooms in a compact terminal

Watch-out

No Plaza Premium / Escape soft product for open Priority Pass

04

LayoverTraveler Tips & Hacks

Terminal is not overnight

Open 04:00–23:00; overnight stays inside are not permitted. Jet curfew 23:00–06:00.

Plan hotels in Coolangatta / Bilinga / Rydges at the southern forecourt for red-eyes. Car parks stay 24/7 even when the hall is closed. Remaining Northern Bays works run through the end of 2026.

Pro

Clear published hours — no ambiguity

Watch-out

No airside sleep product for early international banks
