Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

Single-ticket connections are planned by the airline

No official MCT. Shuttle 06:00–23:00; PTS 04:00–24:00.

Munich Airport does not publish a minimum connection time or walk-minute matrix. Use the published shuttle (06:00–23:00) and PTS (04:00–24:00) hours, then add your own buffer. No published T1–T2 shuttle 23:00–06:00.

Terminal

T2 for Lufthansa Group; T1 for SAS, Hall F, and most non-Star

T1–T2 airside shuttle ride 5–7 min (06:00–23:00). PTS about 1 min.

T1 Pier is all T1 non-Schengen since 21 April 2026. T2 satellite is PTS-train only. Hall F is landside/public, not an airside shortcut.

Food

Eat landside or in a lounge before the gate

Post-security food is solid but pricey; beer gardens and bakeries stand out.

T1 has more independent food; T2 is the Lufthansa lounge cluster. Confirm the lounge against your gate, not Terminal 2 as a whole. Airside prices are standard European airport prices; no verified bottle price is published here.

Status

Lufthansa First Class is four rooms, not one

First Class doors: G21, H21, K11, L11.

Official pins: G21 (T2 Schengen, Level 04), H21 (T2 non-Schengen, Level 05), K11 (satellite Schengen), L11 (satellite non-Schengen). Satellite roof terrace is closed in winter. Match the room to your gate building and Schengen layer.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

Star Alliance connections through T2 and the satellite
CT security with 2 L liquids left in the bag
S-Bahn to the city (about 40 min, €15.10)
Independent T1 lounges with Priority Pass / LoungeKey / DragonPass

Watch out for

No published T1–T2 shuttle 23:00–06:00
T2 satellite is PTS-train only
Hall F is landside only (Tel Aviv, including Lufthansa)
SAS checks in at T1 D, not the T2 hub
