Memmingen, Germany · Europe

Most important tips
A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.
Shuttle €3.50/~10 min to Hbf (included on DB tickets to Memmingen Allgäu Airport); Munich coach from €9.90 online.
There is no S-Bahn or U-Bahn under the terminal. Default local public option is the Memmingen Airport City-Shuttle (mm-acs.de / airport Bus & Bahn page): roughly every 30 minutes about 04:10–23:10 between the curb stop in front of the terminal and Memmingen ZOB / Hauptbahnhof (~10 minutes). Standalone fare is €3.50 per ride (driver or online QR). If you book Deutsche Bahn (or SBB) through-tickets to the destination “Memmingen Allgäu Airport”, the shuttle leg is included — do not buy a second bus ticket. Deutschlandticket is accepted on the city-shuttle per local operator practice for the Memmingen urban network; confirm live if your ticket type is unusual. For Munich, the Allgäu Airport Express coaches stop at the terminal and run to München Zentrum (Seidlstraße 5 by Hbf); online tickets from €9.90, onboard cash higher (operator lists cash sales). FlixBus also serves the curb on selected longer routes. Taxi rank is on the arrivals roadway (Diddelcar, Fekler, Maier per airport site); Memmingen centre is only ~7–8 km — budget roughly low-to-mid €20s on a clean daytime meter run (traffic and night surcharges vary; always use the signed rank).
Classic 100 ml LAGs; Fast Track is timed webshop e-gate access.
Passenger screening is run by Sicherheitsgesellschaft Memmingen (SGMM). Official Reisetipps / security pages still require classic EU LAG rules: ≤100 ml containers in one transparent resealable ≤1 L bag; laptops and large electronics out; jackets and heavy footwear off when asked. Empty bottles/drinks into the liquid dump bins before the checkpoint; deposit Pfand bottles in the public donation bins if you want. There is no published cabin CT / ≤2 L liquids waiver for departing passengers — treat FMM as classic 100 ml. Paid Fast Track buys priority access through a separate e-gate (airport Fast Track pages); tickets are webshop-only with dynamic pricing and are valid from 60 minutes before to 60 minutes after the booked slot. Peak Ryanair/Wizz banks and holiday Fridays are when it earns its keep. Non-Schengen flights add Bayerische Grenzpolizei / passport time; EES enrolment for third-country nationals is being rolled out (airport: start 26 Jan 2026, full from 1 May 2026) — allow extra buffer on non-EU passports during the transition.
No PP/walk-in lounge; airside Coffee Fellows at Gate 5 is the wait spot.
Priority Pass’s Germany lounge directory lists BER, BRE, CGN, DRS, DUS, FRA, HAM, HAJ, LEJ, FMO, MUC, NUE, SCN and STR — not Memmingen. There is no walk-in or airline-branded passenger lounge for scheduled Ryanair / Wizz / other LCC traffic. After security, the practical sit-down is Coffee Fellows at Gate 5 (with outdoor biergarten / apron view when weather allows) plus Spresso Caffébar on the upper level after passport control for non-Schengen. Landside, VIBES sits in the public terminal hall and Coffee Fellows Express is in the Service Center opposite the terminal. Bring a jacket for the Gate 5 terrace; do not expect showers, quiet rooms, or Priority Pass credits here.
No free fountains; buy before security or use Duty Free / cafés airside.
Independent German water surveys and traveler reports consistently find no free passenger drinking fountains at FMM; plan to buy sealed bottles or refill an empty bottle at restroom taps after security (German tap water is potable). Best routine: purchase water in the landside public area (VIBES / Service Center Express / vending) before screening, or use Duty Free / Coffee Fellows airside after. Expect café 0.5 L bottles commonly around the mid-€2 to high-€2 range (shelf prices move — check the tag). Duty Free sits immediately after security and sells soft drinks alongside the usual Travel Value assortment; Shop & Collect lets you buy before departure and pick up after landing at Information.
