Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

Check in two hours ahead

Arrive 2 hours early; the gate closes 30 minutes before departure.

Kerry Airport asks passengers to arrive two hours before departure. Gates close 30 minutes before take-off. The terminal is small, so queues are usually short, but several Ryanair departures can bunch up in the morning.

Terminal

Laptops and liquids stay in your bag

New scanners: up to 2 litres of liquids, and laptops stay packed.

Kerry has new EDS CB security scanners. You can leave laptops and liquids in your bag, and containers of up to 2 litres are allowed. Rules at your return airport may be stricter, so pack for the strictest airport on your trip.

Food

One bar-restaurant landside

Eat at the main-concourse bar-restaurant; airside choice is small.

The licensed bar and restaurant in the main concourse serves hot and cold meals and snacks. Airside there is a gift shop in the departure lounge, and the July 2025 extension added more catering, seating and a quiet space.

Status

No lounge at Kerry

No lounge; use the quiet space in the departure lounge.

The airport lists no lounge, and Ryanair has no status programme that gives lounge access. Priority Pass and similar cards are no use here. The extended departure lounge has a quiet space.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

Flying straight into Kerry for Killarney, the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle peninsula
Short walks and quick security with the new scanners
Rail and bus links to Killarney and Tralee

Watch out for

Ryanair only, so the network is small
No lounge and little food airside
Buses and Local Link run only a few times a day
