The split has been in force since 31 Dec 2014. Mixing an international arrival with a domestic onward flight means bags, customs, and the free shuttle.
Official airport transfer page: six airside transfer counters exist for international-to-international inside T2 Floor 2. T1↔T2 is landside. Shuttle 05:00–01:00; T1 Hall A / T2 poles 11–12.

T2’s 2025 expansion added space and cultural displays, not a food destination. HAN is ~35 km from downtown — unlike SGN, you cannot pop into District 1 between flights.
Priority Pass currently lists four HAN lounges: SH Premium T1, ASG Sky T1, SH Premium T2 east, SH Premium 3 T2 west. Lotus and ACV Business are not PP.
T2 east: Lotus + SH Premium near gates 21–22. T2 west: SH Premium 3, ACV Business, SH Elite 2 near gates 36–37. A T1 PP visit is useless on a T2 boarding pass.
