Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Transport

Ride S5 from under Terminal C

Fastest cheap city link: ~17 min to Hbf, typically every 30 minutes.

Hannover Flughafen station sits under Terminal C. S5 to Hauptbahnhof takes about 17 minutes (typically :06/:36). Flughafen is GVH Zone B, Hbf Zone A — buy Einzelkarte AB €4.70 from 1 Jan 2026, not the €5.70 ABC ticket. Deutschlandticket covers the ride.

Security

Book free HAJway — A covers A and B

Free dedicated security access at A (for A/B) and C. Still pack 100 ml liquids.

Reserve online or in SmartDepart from four days to one hour before departure. Use HAJway in Terminal A for A/B flights (B is a short airside walk) and Terminal C for C flights. Boarding pass required; QR code no longer needed. English page: slots valid ±10 minutes. Classic 100 ml / 1 L bag still applies.

Lounge

Match lounge to your terminal

LH and Karl-Jatho help A/B; C needs Melli-Beese before 19:00.

Lufthansa Business/Senator above Gate 6, 05:00–20:00 daily. Priority Pass/LoungeKey: Karl-Jatho between A and B (Mon–Sat 05:00–19:00, Sun 08:00–19:00) or Melli-Beese opposite Gate 19 (daily 08:00–19:00). Max stay 3 hours. Prepaid walk-in €29. Terminal C does not connect to A/B after security. Do not count on DragonPass.

Food

Shop Edeka before security

Best-value bottles landside — no documented free airside refill.

Airport Frischecenter by Edeka on the Plaza between A and B (daily 06:00–20:00) is the practical water and snack stop; shelf price is unpublished. Marché (Terminal B departures) and McDonald's (Plaza) run 24/7 landside. After security buy at Heinemann, Zigolini, or Marché Sandwich Manufaktur. No published passenger fountain.
