Uganda’s only international gateway is a compact, single-hall airport on a Lake Victoria peninsula: the new 20,000 m² extension and a refurbished Karibuni Lounge help, but you still need an eVisa in hand, a yellow-fever card, and three hours — and there is no train.
An editorial 0–10 score. The overall is exactly the weighted sum of six traveler categories — not a Google rating and not a poll.

Most important tips
A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.
UCAA tells most international passengers to be at the airport about 3 hours before departure. Uganda Airlines DXB, LGW and BOM desks open 5 hours before the flight and close 2 hours prior.
Uganda Airlines desks for other destinations open 4 hours and close 90 minutes before departure. Online check-in is 72 hours to 4 hours, but UR still sends you to the airport desk for documents and a boarding pass. Immigration told departing passengers to arrive at least 3 hours early after the 17 April 2026 move into the new hall.
EBB is still one civilian passenger terminal, not two airports. Immigration Departures relocated into the new extension on 17 April 2026; peak queues were the advertised trade-off.
UCAA's 20,000 m² hall (24 extra desks, 14 kiosks, five aerobridges in total) opened in phases from January 2026. Follow live "Departures / Immigration" signs, not leftover photos of the 2009 airside facade as a map. The old Entebbe airfield on the peninsula is a UPDF military site — it is not a passenger door.
UCAA does not publish refill-fountain locations or a bottled-water tariff. Buy a sealed bottle at Crane or Good African Coffee; lounge water is free with Karibuni access.
UCAA names Crane cafeteria in Arrivals, Crane Cafeteria Transit, and Good African Coffee, all listed as 24 hours. Duty-free (Uganda Duty Free Sales, Transit Duty Free Sales, JIT) sits on departure and at arrivals. Karibuni has its own water fountains once you are in the lounge. Do not merge leftover Crown / Pearl lounge names from SEO pages.
Visa-prone travellers must hold a printed Travel Authorisation from visas.immigration.go.ug before they fly (ordinary tourist USD 50). Uganda does not issue visas on arrival. Yellow fever for all arrivals aged 1+.
Apply at least ten days ahead. Approval letters expire 90 days after issue. Visa-exempt nationalities still need a passport valid 6 months and a yellow fever card. Airport Medical Centre (arrivals, ground floor, northern end) is 24 hours if you need the jab on landing.

Entebbe International Airport and the Entebbe city center
4 ways into the city, compared on time, cost, and luggage.
2 lounges with access rules, hours, and verdicts. 1 rated worth it.
Take the Kampala–Entebbe Expressway. UCAA's own page says it is faster than the old 42 km road. Class 2 (sedan) is UGX 5,000 per trip on kee.go.ug; Easy Pass knocks that to UGX 4,500.
6 rated amenities — food, Wi-Fi, quiet spots, family, and sleep.
Where to refill for free, and where a bottle costs the least airside.

Entebbe International Airport and the Entebbe city center
Compare prepaid private transfers to Entebbe — useful overnight, with luggage, or when you want a locked-in fare before you land.
Both apps are live in Uganda. Pin arrivals in the app and compare the quote to the UCAA US$40 taxi.
Tip: UCAA’s posted AIRPORT TAXI is US$40 / UGX 100,000 — treat that as the ceiling when surge looks higher. Take KEE, not the old road.
Yellow-band cars marked AIRPORT TAXI at Arrivals ground level. UCAA Kampala fare US$40 or UGX 100,000.
Tip: Note the identification number on the car. Driver should load bags. Pay in shillings when you can — forex is in Arrivals.
Airport–Entebbe (Kitoro) about UGX 2,000 / 4 km; Entebbe–Kampala about UGX 5,000 including hand luggage, about an hour.
Tip: UCAA lists these as commuter services, not a luggage product. Fine with a backpack; a poor plan with two suitcases.
Automated ticket at the barrier from 1 November 2024. Saloon first hour UGX 5,000 then UGX 1,000/hour.
Tip: Long-term first day UGX 30,000 then UGX 10,000/day; after 30 days UGX 200,000/day as a deterrent. Keep the ticket for exit.
The only Priority Pass room at EBB — airside at the far end of the international departure lounge near the boarding gates. PP 4.3/800, 24/7, max 3 hours. Refurbished 4 July 2025 (160 to 300 seats, prayer room, infant playroom, showers). Walk-in is UCAA US$45, not leftover aggregator US$35.

Add a photoOnly Priority Pass room: airside near the gates, 24/7, showers, refurbished 4 Jul 2025 to 300 seats. UCAA walk-in US$45 / 3 hours.
UCAA lists Crane cafeteria in Arrivals, Crane Cafeteria Transit and Good African Coffee as 24-hour restaurants. No published water tariff.
Free Wi-Fi in check-in, transit, boarding lounges, VIP, Arrivals and the meeters hall. UCAA does not publish the SSID.
24-hour clinic landside arrivals, ground floor northern end — emergencies, pharmacy, yellow-fever jab US$40 / UGX 120,000.
Uganda Duty Free Sales, Transit Duty Free Sales and JIT on departure; duty-paid shop at Arrivals. Crafts on the 1st floor and in transit.
UCAA’s faster road into Kampala. Class 2 sedan toll UGX 5,000 per trip (kee.go.ug). Uber and Bolt are both live.
UCAA wants you at the airport about 3 hours before departure; Uganda Airlines DXB/LGW/BOM desks close 2 hours prior.
Other UR destinations open 4 hours and close 90 minutes. Online check-in (72 hours–4 hours) still requires an airport desk visit for documents. Immigration moved into the new hall on 17 April 2026.
Kiosks and 24 extra desks in the extension should eventually shorten the landside queue.
Peak immigration in the new hall still backs up — the 3-hour rule is current, not leftover.
Official AIRPORT TAXI is UCAA US$40 / UGX 100,000 to Kampala. Uber and Bolt are live — check the quote against that ceiling.
Yellow-band cars park at Arrivals ground. KEE Class 2 is UGX 5,000 per trip. Commuter matatus to Kampala are about UGX 5,000 and an hour — fine with a backpack, poor with two suitcases.
UCAA itself says the Expressway is faster than the old 42 km road.
Morning and evening peaks still eat the last kilometres into Kampala.
Airside at the far end of the international departure lounge, 24/7, showers, max 3 hours. Do not hunt leftover Crown or Pearl names.
Refurbished 4 July 2025 (160 to 300 seats). Priority Pass 4.3/800. LoungeKey code ENT. VIP is government-only.
Showers, prayer room and an infant playroom after the 2025 rebuild.
PP cap is 3 hours; conference and long-distance calls are extra.
EBB is still one connected passenger hall. Immigration Departures has been in the new extension since 17 April 2026.
The old Entebbe airfield on the peninsula is military — not a passenger door. Leftover 2009 apron photos are not a map of today’s five aerobridges.
24 extra desks, 14 kiosks and three extra bridges versus the pre-extension hall.
Phased opening plus the immigration move still produces peak queues.
Crane cafeteria in the Arrivals hall (ground floor) and Good African Coffee in the passenger terminal — UCAA 24-hour restaurants
The reliable sealed bottle before security. UCAA lists Crane cafeteria in Arrivals and Good African Coffee as 24-hour food points and does not publish drinking-fountain locations in the public hall.
Airside transit concourse — Crane Cafeteria Transit and the duty-free shops on the departure level
Sealed water after security. UCAA lists Crane Cafeteria Transit plus Uganda Duty Free Sales, Transit Duty Free Sales and JIT on departure.
Karibuni Lounge, airside at the far end of the international departure lounge near the boarding gates
UCAA describes Karibuni as having water fountains. Complimentary once you are in the room. Walk-in is US$45 / 3 hours if you have no Priority Pass or LoungeKey card.
