Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, and Nok Air banks stack check-in and security before sunrise and again in evening peaks. Online check-in plus bag drop helps, but family groups with paper documents still build landside snakes in both halls. International departures want about 2.5–3 hours curb-to-gate on busy days; domestic can work closer to 90–120 minutes when you are cabin-bag only and the bank is quiet — do not gamble that on Songkran or Friday nights.

Since the 2019 swap, Terminal 1 is the international building and Terminal 2 is domestic. The covered walkway between them is fine with a roller bag but painful in heat with three suitcases. Wrong-terminal Grab drops are the classic DMK own-goal — screenshot the terminal from the airline app before you message the driver. Lounge access is also terminal-locked.
Convenience-store + Thai QSR coverage is solid; overnight dining is thin outside lounges and 24h shops.
Landside and airside 7-Eleven / FamilyMart-style shops are the reliable snack and water play. Food courts and Thai quick-service (noodles, rice plates, fried chicken chains, coffee counters) cover the basics at LCC prices that still beat Suvarnabhumi airside markups. Sit-down options thin out overnight — if your flight is 05:30, eat before you clear security or use a lounge entitlement.
PP density is high for an LCC hub; match the lounge to T1 or T2 and watch the max-stay timers.
Open the Priority Pass app the day you fly. Terminal 1’s Coral Executive and Travel Club are the usual international picks (3-hour caps; Coral’s free alcohol is beer-limited on current PP conditions). Terminal 2’s Coral Executive near Gate 51 and Coral Forest near Gates 72–78 are the domestic standouts; Nok Air Lounge is quieter but simpler. Miracle rooms are fine seats with shorter 2-hour caps — useful when the better rooms are full.
