Three hours

International check-in closes 60 minutes out

The FAQ says to be there 180 minutes before an international departure. Counters close 60 minutes before departure.

Domestic counters open 120 minutes before departure and close 45 minutes before. The travel-to-airport page only says most airlines want you there two or three hours, so use the FAQ times.

One building

Domestic and international share a swing terminal

Sliding glass partitions switch the building between domestic, international, or both. Departure is above arrivals, with a 750 metre flyover.

The terminal page lists 24 check-in counters, expandable to 48, 32 emigration counters, 16 customs counters, and 6 aerobridges. Peak-hour capacity is published as 2,000 passengers.

Filter coffee

Madras Coffee House is in the international hold

The food page places Madras Coffee House in the international security hold and Costa Coffee in the domestic security hold.

Landside, Sip and Go, Samovar, and Alif are on the departure forecourt. Beansburg and Browney Beans are on the arrival forecourt. Curry Tree Diner and a second Samovar are in the international hold. No menu prices are printed.

Parking

Car parking changed on 10 September 2026

A private car is ₹60 for up to 2 hours, then ₹20 an hour through 12 hours, then ₹10 an hour. The page says the rates include GST.

The same page says the lot holds about 500 cars, 200 taxis, and 25 buses. The FAQ still says up to 700 cars. Kerbside drop-off in front of the terminal is limited to 90 seconds.

Civilian public airport at Mattannur, run by Kannur International Airport Limited, a company the Government of Kerala promoted. Commercial operations began on 9 December 2018.
One integrated terminal with a swing layout: sliding glass partitions let the same building run domestic, international, or both.
Financial year 2024-25: 1,364,038 passengers (978,831 international and 385,207 domestic) and 11,397 scheduled or repatriation movements. Calendar 2025 is published as about 1.51 million, not as an exact integer.
Runway 07/25 is 3,050 by 45 metres. The live infrastructure page gives aerodrome reference code 4E, elevation 344 ft, and the reference point 11°54'57"N 75°32'45"E.
Passenger Wi-Fi is free for the first 30 minutes and needs a 10-digit Indian mobile number. There is no rail link into the terminal.
