Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

Record 2025 leisure banks still fill a small hall

Compact terminal, real leisure peaks — pad check-in and security when Ryanair and charter banks overlap.

Official 2025 traffic closed at 439,632 passengers — a new airport record — with Ryanair the volume engine, summer Antalya / Greek / Egyptian charters (110,026 holiday passengers), and a 2025 Lufthansa Frankfurt return that later schedule notices suggest may not still be live. The single terminal walks fast, but classic 100 ml security and Ryanair bag drop still compress when morning UK/Ireland turns and evening leisure departures stack. Use airline app + live FIDS; pad earlier than the building size suggests on peak Saturdays.

Layout

One terminal — Schengen BEL upstairs; non-Schengen stays downstairs

Single Paderewski terminal — easy to walk; the failure mode is assuming the Schengen lounge is on a non-Schengen Ryanair path.

Landside ground floor: two entrances, check-in ahead, Information / ticket desk left of check-in, 1 Minute and Flower Studio, Help Points for PRM. Floor 1 public: security checkpoint and Aelia Beauty. Airside Schengen (floor 1): So!Coffee, Baltona, Business Executive Lounge next to the coffee shop (Priority Pass / airport directions). Airside non-Schengen (ground): Coffee to go and Baltona — UK/Ireland Ryanair passengers should not assume the Schengen BEL is on their sterile path. Meeting point: landside arrivals after reclaim.

Food

So!Coffee / Coffee to go + Baltona — eat in Bydgoszcz if you have time

Two café brands and Baltona retail — fine for coffee, not a dining hall.

Airport F&B directory: So!Coffee in Schengen departures (floor 1), Coffee to go in non-Schengen departures (ground), 1 Minute and Flower Studio landside, Aelia Beauty on floor 1 public, Baltona in both departure zones (open before each departure). Business Executive Lounge adds a cold drinks/alcohol/snacks buffet for eligible guests while open. There is no food court — budget café prices or eat in the city before bus 80.

Live checks

Close-in city link helps — one 2,500 m strip still sets the risk

City proximity is the cushion; weather and the single strip own the delay risk.

Being ~3.5 km from the centre makes bus 80 / taxi recovery realistic when a turn runs late. Ops risk is still a single 2,500 m runway with ILS on 26, classic CAT I-style minima in public summaries, winter low cloud/fog, and stacked leisure banks in a small terminal. Confirm live FIDS and your airline app before leaving Toruń or the city — regional coach gaps hurt more than the short urban hop.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

Travellers using ZDMiKP bus 80 (~15 min / from PLN 3.80) into Bydgoszcz
Ryanair leisure passengers on a walkable single-terminal campus
Priority Pass holders on daytime Schengen departures while BEL is staffed
Drivers using published Kiss&Fly / P1–P3 curb parking

Watch out for

Business Executive Lounge is Schengen floor-1 only — many Ryanair UK/Ireland paths never reach it
Airport page still ties lounge opening to LOT flight days / 24 h booking despite Priority Pass’s 08:00–20:00 listing
Classic EU 100 ml liquids; no published CT leave-liquids-in-bag lanes
No on-airport rail — train arrivals still need bus 80 from Bydgoszcz Główna

Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski Airport (Port Lotniczy im. Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego Bydgoszcz), IATA BZG / ICAO EPBY, sits in the Białe Błota / Szwederowo area about 3.5 km southwest of central Bydgoszcz (airport / Wikipedia location notes). Operator: Port Lotniczy Bydgoszcz S.A., address ul. Paderewskiego 1, 86-005 Białe Błota. Hotline +48 52 365 47 00. Official site: plb.pl. Do not confuse with Gdańsk (GDN), Poznań (POZ), Toruń (no commercial airport), or Warsaw (WAW/WMI).
Official airport 2025 recap (23 Jan 2026): **439,836** passengers (+20% vs 2024) — the airport’s best year on record and **+3.43%** above 2019. The 425,230th passenger of 2025 (18 Dec, London Luton) is the day the 2019 record fell, not the annual total. Holiday/charter traffic **110,206** (+24% YoY). Cargo: more than **526 tonnes** (airport cargo wrap).
One passenger terminal (new building opened 1 May 2004 per airport history page). Single runway 08/26 — 2,500 × 60 m asphalt/concrete; field elevation about 72 m / 235 ft AMSL; ILS procedures published for runway 26 (AIP / Wikipedia cross-check). Compact dual-use civil field with a military heritage — scheduled passengers use the civil terminal.
Ground access is bus-led, not rail-at-curb: ZDMiKP city bus line 80 runs Dworzec PKP ↔ Port Lotniczy daily; airport page quotes about 15 minutes to the centre. Single tickets are sold in the landside 1 Minute shop; ZDMiKP published adult singles PLN 3.80 (50% concession PLN 1.90) and a 20-minute ticket PLN 3.00 / 1.50 — confirm the live tariff before travel. No dedicated airport rail station; arriving by train means bus 80 from Bydgoszcz Główna. Regional Flytransfer coaches serve Toruń / Włocławek / Ciechocinek / Solec Kujawski (online ticket required).
Security follows classic EU cabin-liquid rules on the passenger guide (≤100 ml containers in one resealable transparent ≤1 L bag). No published CT “leave-liquids-in-bag” product. Check-in faces the two landside entrances; security and upper-level shops sit on floor 1. Be at the gate ≥30 minutes before departure; boarding typically closes 20 minutes before STD (passenger guide).
Business Executive Lounge (BEL) is airside Schengen on floor 1 of the departures hall (airport lounge page + live Priority Pass). Live PP: daily 08:00–20:00, max stay 3 hours, digital cards accepted, no dress code, children under 2 free. Amex Lounge Finder lists the same room for Platinum Card Members (enrollment required). Airport page still ties opening to LOT flight days and 24-hour advance booking for other times — confirm the live app / desk board. Star Alliance Gold / selected LOT Business access as published; VIP card sold at the helpdesk before security. Food retail: So!Coffee (Schengen), Coffee to go (non-Schengen), 1 Minute + Flower Studio landside, Aelia Beauty floor 1 public, Baltona Schengen floor 1 + non-Schengen ground (airport F&B directory).
