From Best Airport Tricks & Hacks

Confirm International vs Domestic on the booking, not from the airline brand. Every passport flight is International (T1 / Terminal I). Domestic Qantas sits at the northern end; Virgin Australia at the southern end; Jetstar / Rex / others in the centre.
There is no sterile walk between terminals. Use the free orange Terminal Transfer Bus (~10 minutes; Domestic stop toward the Qantas end; International Level 2 for Domestic-bound / Level 4 arrivals from Domestic) or paid Airtrain between terminals for A$5 one way.
Airtrain is the default CBD link (~20 minutes to the Central / Roma Street / South Brisbane band). Translink posts city fares from A$23.30 one way effective 27 Apr 2026. Pre-book online for Airtrain’s advertised 15% city discount when eligible (same-day bookings excluded). Kids 14 and under travel free with a paying adult on qualifying Airtrain city tickets.
Screenshot BNE ≠ OOL (Gold Coast) ≠ Archerfield. Rideshare drivers and some hotel desks still mix them up.
For Priority Pass on international days, go to Escape Lounges on the Level 4 mezzanine near Gates 81–82. Treat Plaza Premium as closed 15 Sep 2026–1 Dec 2026 (live PP refurbishment notice). Escape Lounges is the open international PP lounge.
Domestic Priority Pass is restaurant credit (The Common near Gate 24 after Qantas security, plus Independent / Graze / Mezze Za Za) — not a soft lounge substitute for Escape.
Empty liquids before international security; refill at BAC filtered water stations after. Free public showers exist if you bring a towel.
Join BNE Free Wi-Fi after the captive portal — lounges often run their own SSIDs.

TransportTraveler Tips & Hacks

Default to Airtrain unless you land after last train

Fastest public CBD link from both terminals.

Buy Airtrain tickets (not go card for the airport segment). City fares from A$23.30 one way per Translink from 27 Apr 2026; advance online city discount when eligible. Kids 14 and under free with a paying adult on qualifying city tickets.

Pro

About 20 minutes to Central / Roma Street / South Brisbane

Watch-out

Does not run through the deepest overnight window — confirm last train

02

NavigationTraveler Tips & Hacks

Treat Domestic↔International as a landside transfer

Four kilometres, free bus ~10 min, no sterile link.

International arrivals clear passport control, bags and biosecurity first. Qantas/Virgin can use the Domestic Transfer Desk in International; others re-check at Domestic with bags. Airtrain between terminals is A$5 if you prefer rail.

Pro

Free orange Terminal Transfer Bus is well signed

Watch-out

Easy to under-budget connection time with checked bags

03

LoungeTraveler Tips & Hacks

Priority Pass: Escape first; Plaza may be closed

Escape is the soft lounge; Plaza Premium has a Sep–Dec 2026 closure.

Escape Lounges Level 4 mezzanine near Gates 81–82, 06:00–01:00. Plaza Premium near Gate 77 is listed closed 15 Sep 2026–1 Dec 2026 on Priority Pass. Domestic PP venues are restaurant credits (The Common, etc.), not soft lounges.

Pro

Escape walk-up A$90 / online from A$65 if you lack PP

Watch-out

Do not assume Plaza Premium is open in late 2026

NavigationTraveler Tips & Hacks

Qantas domestic north; Virgin south; all intl is T1

Same airline brand can mean two different buildings.

Qantas/QantasLink domestic check-in is the northern Domestic Terminal. Virgin Australia is the southern end. Jetstar/Rex sit in the centre. Any passport flight — including Qantas international — is the separate International Terminal.

Pro

One Domestic building once you are airside through the central spine

Watch-out

Wrong kerbside drop wastes the free transfer bus ride
