Empty the bottle at the single TSA portal; official amenities page does not map fillers.

Economy $10/day 24/7 shuttle; Daily deck $17/day; Hourly $26/day (rates since 1 Jul 2025).

SecurityTraveler Tips & Hacks

One central TSA portal—stack CLEAR + PreCheck

All concourses share a single security entrance; official advice is arrive at least 90 minutes out.

CLEAR lane/enrollment runs 04:30–20:00 daily with on-site PreCheck enrollment at the CLEAR kiosk. CLEAR+PreCheck escorts you to the PreCheck line; under-18 is free with a paid CLEAR member. Empty bottles before the single portal—no official bottle-filler map is published.

Pro

Touchless ID listed for American, Delta, United, and Southwest keeps the line moving when enrolled.

Watch-out

Miss the 90-minute buffer on a busy morning and the single portal becomes the bottleneck for every gate.

02

NavigationTraveler Tips & Hacks

Upper ticketing, lower bags, walk A↔B↔C airside

Compact two-level terminal: clear once, then walk all three concourses without reclearing.

Gates map as A1–A8, B1–B3/B5–B6, C1–C6. Drop-off is upper curb (vehicle attended only). Bags, taxis, and rideshare are lower level; Door 4L leads to the pet-relief path. Rentals are deck section 1B—walk, no shuttle.

Pro

Curb-to-gate is genuinely short if you are on the correct level.

Watch-out

Wrong-level curb drop with heavy bags means an elevator detour before you even see TSA.

03

FoodTraveler Tips & Hacks

Clear first—local kitchens beat the chains

Interesting food is airside: Red Mountain Grill (B), Tacos Locos (C), Scoreboard (A), plus Chick-fil-A and Starbucks.

Shops and most dining open from 04:00; restaurant closing tracks the last flight. Landside options are thinner, so plan to clear security before hunting a real meal. Sealed water is Hudson or cafe register price only—no published bottle tariff.

Pro

Red Mountain Grill’s airfield view makes a short sit-down feel less generic than a typical mid-size hub.

Watch-out

Once those few local spots queue up, you are left with Burger King and bagel defaults.

04

LoungeTraveler Tips & Hacks

There is no passenger club—do not chase BHX results

Live Priority Pass USA has no BHM entry; 2020 Primeclass news is not on today’s Amenities page.

Use the meditation or sensory room, a quiet gate with power, or nursing rooms if traveling with an infant. Aspire/No1/Clubrooms hits are Birmingham UK (BHX). Official amenities emphasize Kidzone and quiet rooms, not a pay-in lounge.

Pro

Quiet rooms and power-at-every-seat partially offset the missing club for short waits.

Watch-out

Long layovers or premium-cabin travelers have nowhere to shower, buffet, or escape the gate area.

05

TransportTraveler Tips & Hacks

Skip hoping for a city bus—use Cell Phone Lot, deck, or rideshare

Official pages publish no fixed MAX Transit route to the curb; plan accordingly.

Free Cell Phone Lot at 5600 Airline Drive (~40 cars, stay with vehicle). Economy parking $10/day with 24/7 shuttle; Daily deck $17/day; Hourly $26/day; Valet $28/day (rates since Jul 2025). Uber/Lyft on lower Arrivals curb; taxis 24/7 at bag claim.

Pro

On-deck rentals in 1B eliminate the usual rental-shuttle lag.

Watch-out

Without a car or rideshare app you are dependent on taxi phone lists at bags.
