Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

Official FAQ wants 90 minutes; TSA opens about 4:00 a.m.

Official FAQ prints a 90-minute arrival, a 24/7 Joseph M. McDade Terminal, and a TSA checkpoint that opens daily at approximately 4:00 a.m. Airline contracts of carriage on that page still close check-in 30 minutes and the gate 15 minutes before departure.

Official Airlines counters: American 3:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. daily; United 4:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. daily; Breeze from two hours to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Official FAQ and Features print no current PreCheck lane, no CLEAR, and no live wait widget. Holiday news pages have asked for two hours in peak weeks. The 10-minute average security figure on the score card is unpublished.

Layout

One McDade hall at 100 Terminal Drive — do not invent /airports/kavp

Official pin is 100 Terminal Drive, Avoca, PA 18641. One scheduled-passenger campus. Do not create /airports/kavp. Do not merge ABE, MDT, PHL, EWR, IPT, or WBW.

Official FAQ identifier is AVP only. Features prints a landside lactation room outside Administration Offices and an airside room past TSA near the escalator to Gates 1 and 2, a 24-hour interfaith meditation room on the second level above the Information Center, ATMs on the first-level center (landside) and near the Gates 1–2 escalator (airside), and a USPS drop near baggage claim with 9:30 a.m. Mon–Sat pickup. Information Center: first-level middle entrances; 24-hour recording 570.602.2020. Lost and found: Security Office 570.602.2023. Smoking is outside only.

Food

Dunkin and Lucky’s are concessions — not an airline lounge

Official Food & Lodging puts both Dunkin and Lucky’s Craft Food & Drink on the second level past the Security Checkpoint. Dunkin opens about 4:30 a.m. until the last departure. Lucky’s opens about 10:30 a.m. with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a full bar.

Trust the Food & Lodging page over the Features terminal cell that still says Lucky’s is a bite before security and still reprints Wings Restaurant & Bar next to Northeast PA News & Gift. Official pages print no bottle tariff and no bottle-fill station. Live Priority Pass wilkes-barre-avp is 404. Ascension FBO 570-457-4485 is not this TSA hall.

Live board

Trust flyavp.com/airlines over third-party destination counts

Official Airlines page on 16 Sep 2026 prints American CLT/ORD/PHL, United ORD/IAD, and Breeze MCO/TPA/FLL plus seasonal RSW/MYR. Official FAQ prints no scheduled public shuttle to another airport.

American’s printed PHL frequency is four daily flights, not a free public bus. Third-party July 2026 route tables that drop PHL or count only two American cities are a different file. Breeze FLL is printed as started 1 Jul 2026. Incoming executive director Kim William Hopper is reported to start 1 Nov 2026; AirNav still lists Stephen Mykulyn as manager on 16 Sep 2026.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

Short hops to CLT, ORD, IAD, or PHL without driving to a large hub
Drivers who want printed $13 lot / $17 garage rates next to the hall
Early departures once TSA opens about 4:00 a.m.

Watch out for

No ticketed lounge and no printed PreCheck or CLEAR cell
Official pages do not print Uber, Lyft, or a public bus
Food is Dunkin plus Lucky’s after about 10:30 a.m. — no bottle tariff
Do not treat American’s printed PHL flights as a free public shuttle
