Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

2–2.5 hours for Europe, 3–3.5 outside Europe

Swedavia’s own buffer is 1.5 hours domestic, 2–2.5 hours within Europe, 3–3.5 hours extra-Europe.

Use the flight-number tool on swedavia.com/arlanda — it will not send you before check-in opens. Do not plan from the live security wait widget; Swedavia says those numbers change too fast.

Terminal

T5 vs T2 — T3 is closed for security

Most SAS and long-haul traffic is T5. T2 is a separate building (airside bus). T3 security shut 1 Sep 2026.

Gate Area C is the old Terminal 4, now part of T5. Until the T3 gates reopen as part of T2 (planned late 2026), regional carriers that used T3 check in at T2. T2 security is being expanded through early 2027.

Food

SkyCity landside; Aspire or SAS if you have access

McDonald’s is in SkyCity before security, not airside. Priority Pass restaurant vouchers are not lounges.

PP and LoungeKey can take SEK 190 off a bill plus a hot or soft drink at Gateau F-Pier (ARN6D), and the same style of voucher at Eatery Garden, Craft & Draft (T5) and Upstairs & Bar (T2). Those burn a lounge visit. The sit-down rooms are Aspire, Pearl, Amex, and SAS.

Status

Pick the lounge by pier, not by habit

Priority Pass now covers two Aspire rooms and both Pearls. LoungeKey covers the Pearls only — not Aspire.

Aspire Schengen is Pier E near E1 (PP 04:30–20:00). Aspire non-Schengen is the start of Pier F after passport control (06:00–22:00). Pearl T5 sits above C37 (max stay 2 hours). SAS E1 is SkyTeam/status, not Priority Pass.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

Fast rail to the city
T5 CT scanners (liquids stay packed)
SkyTeam / SAS lounge access
Priority Pass Aspire + Pearl coverage

Watch out for

T3 security closed 1 Sep 2026 — use T2
157 SEK Arlanda C station fee on SL pendeltåg
Uncontracted taxi touts in the hall
T2 still uses the old liquids-bag / electronics-out rules
