Know before you go

Check-in

GACL wants 2 hours; long-haul still needs 3

Check-in desks sit in T2 (domestic) and T3 (international). GACL says counters open 2–3 hours before departure and you should check in at least 2 hours out. Self-service kiosks are only KQ, SAA and KLM.

Landside security is at the terminal door, then check-in, then immigration and a second screening before the T3 gate. Do not copy a leftover 90-minute domestic rule onto a JFK or IAD departure.

Layout

T3 is international; T2 is still domestic only

There is no airside walk between T2 and T3. T2 international repurposing is underway — GACL still labels T2 domestic on the passenger guide. T1 is not a scheduled-passenger hall.

A domestic-to-international connection means leaving T2, reclearing, and checking in again at T3. Do not treat leftover T2-as-live-international, leftover T1-as-FBO-open, or leftover Aayalolo city buses as current.

Water

Buy a sealed bottle at the T3 food court

GACL does not publish refill fountains. La Tante Royale, Café Aleenoo, Muttina Bacci and Cassba sit on T3 departures 1st floor (24 h). Landside Airport Square leftovers (Wok Inn, Alf & Gina) are not airside.

There is no published GHS bottle tariff — pay at the till. Lounge water is free once you are in Sanbra, Akwaaba or Adinkra.

Visa

eVisa before you fly — visa on arrival ended

UK, EU and US ordinary passports need a Ghana visa. Apply at evisa.immigration.gov.gh (GIS; advertised 72-hour email). ECOWAS remains visa-free. Yellow fever certificate required from 9 months of age.

FCDO still describes the High Commission postal form (page last updated Dec 2025) — that is leftover-lagging after the 25 May 2026 eVisa launch. Do not turn up hoping to buy a visa at T3. Print or save the email; passport must be valid 6 months after arrival.

Accra International Airport (IATA ACC / ICAO DGAA), ~10 km from Accra centre; GACL. Officially Accra International again from 23 Feb 2026 after the 1969 Kotoka name — IATA/ICAO did not change. Elevation ~63.5 m / 205 ft.
2025 GACL: 3,625,778 passengers = 2,540,725 international + 903,227 domestic + 181,826 transit. Movements 47,270. Freight 44,826 t. GCAA/Wikipedia leftover 3,624,087 / 2,539,034 leftover-conflicting by ~1.7k — sit GACL. T3 leftover 5 million is capacity, not traffic.
Live campus: Terminal 3 international (opened 15 Sep 2018) + Terminal 2 domestic. No airside walk. T2 dual-use international is NOT live (works still running 10 Apr 2026). T1 is not a public passenger hall (FBO licence terminated; GACL locked the building 9 Feb 2026).
One runway 03/21, 3,403 m. Hub Africa World Airlines; Passion Air domestic base. Live long-haul includes Delta daily JFK, United ~6× weekly IAD, BA LHR/LGW, KLM AMS, Emirates DXB via Abidjan, Qatar DOH, Turkish IST. Priority Pass: Sanbra T3 L3 opposite Gate C3 (24 h, max 4 h, 4.3/587) + Akwaaba Pearl T3 L5 (24 h, showers US$15 extra, 4.2/496) + Adinkra T3 toward Gate C4 (PP 06:00–23:00; operator leftover 24/7) + Adinkra T2 next to Gate 3 (domestic 06:00–19:00). CIP is a pre-booked paid product, not Priority Pass.
Uber and Bolt are live. Pickup is Parking Lot 3 / the signed car parks — arrivals-curb pickup is prohibited. GACL parking (Parks 2, 3 & 5): GHS 20 first hour, GHS 100 for 6–24 h, GHS 150 overnight. No metro. No airport rail.
