SHJ · Busy Air Arabia single-terminal alternative to DXB: simple to navigate with a real Priority Pass lounge and an official airside hotel, but single-runway ops, remaining expansion works, and Dubai road traffic keep the score honest.
DXB · DXB is the world’s busiest airport by international traffic — 95.2 million guests in 2025 — with excellent Metro access from T1/T3, dense Priority Pass coverage, and long T3 walks that punish late Emirates connections.

Single terminal — still budget Air Arabia banks and remaining expansion works
Arrive ~3h before long-haul / ~2.5h before busy LCC banks; SAA says the expansion is almost complete, with opening phases due end-2027.
One hall — The Lounge is upstairs after Duty Free / transfer desk
Single terminal; The Lounge = Level 1 opposite transfer desk after duty free.
The Lounge or walk-up if you need soft product — retail is basic LCC
Eat retail if you lack lounge rights; The Lounge walk-up is the honest paid Plan B — confirm the desk price.

Build 3 hours for T3 peak departures
Evening banks roughly 18:00–22:00 are the densest.
Read the terminal letter on the boarding pass
Emirates uses T3; many other carriers sit in T1 or T2.
Plenty of food airside in T3 — pick before your gate run
Prices are high everywhere; lounges win if you already have access.
