Swedavia’s About and Contact pages open the terminal about 2.5 hours before the first departure and close it 30 minutes after the last arrival. For a typical domestic Arlanda bank, arriving ~60–90 minutes before STD is enough in normal conditions; add buffer for the day’s first wave, bag drop, or winter weather. Ultra-early “just show up” fails if you beat the door.

Single renovated terminal; navigation is trivial — airport mix-ups with LLA / SDL / SFT / OSD are the costly error.

Check-in, security, Ume Fika & Bar, Duty Free, and the gate holdroom share one compact building (major rebuild completed in 2008 per About). There is no pier train and no terminal transfer. Confusing UME with LLA (Luleå), SDL (Sundsvall-Timrå), SFT (Skellefteå), or OSD (Åre Östersund) on a multi-city Norrland itinerary is the failure mode — those are separate ground trips measured in hours.

Two UME Fika outlets (entrance kiosk + airside bar); Saturday landside closure and thin weekend airside hours are the traps.

UME Fika & Kiosk is at the entrance (Swedavia English hours sample: Mon–Fri 08:45–10:30 and 11:10–19:30; Saturday closed; Sunday 12:00–15:30 and 16:10–21:00). Ume Fika & Bar is the post-security option (English POI lists Mon–Fri from 05:30; weekend hours on the live page can be sparse — confirm on the day). If you need a guaranteed breakfast before an early SAS/Norwegian bank, eat in town or use the landside kiosk when it is open rather than gambling on airside alone.

Ultra bus 80 + taxi curb + free bike garage; 4 km to centre is the product — not a distant inland field.

Ultra Airport Bus number 80 stops outside the terminal; tickets via the Ultra app, tabussen.nu, Ultra service points, or contactless card on board (Swedavia bus page). Taxi rank is immediately outside. Wasaline’s bus stop on Obbolavägen is ~100 m past long-term parking — irrelevant unless you are connecting to the ferry. Cycling is realistic: ~4 km from centre with a free weather-protected bike garage.
