Winter-sun Saturday mornings and Sunday evening returns are when TFS feels smaller than its passenger count—arrive earlier than the resort vibe suggests.

Ryanair, Jet2, easyJet, TUI and other leisure carriers stack early and late banks, especially Nov–Mar Saturday changeovers. Build about 2.5 hours for non-Schengen peak departures; inter-island and quiet midweek troughs are gentler.

Compact single-terminal flow: the failure mode is lingering pre-border when your flight needs passport control, not picking the wrong building.

Check-in and bag drop sit landside; after security you reach the commercial spine and boarding gates. Non-Schengen flights add passport/EES time after the Montaña Roja lounge zone—follow Schengen vs non-Schengen signs before settling in.

Functional airside F&B for a leisure base—not a food destination. Plan calories before security or inside Montaña Roja.

Expect Spanish airport chains, coffee counters, and grab-and-go after screening. Montaña Roja is the calm food-and-drink reset if you have access; otherwise eat a real meal before security when the FIDS wall is solid UK/DE/Nordic metal.

Delays are usually people-processing and weather-on-the-runway edge cases, not Los Rodeos-style fog—pad the landside clock and confirm you are booked into TFS, not TFN.

One long runway and usually mild Atlantic weather keep ops steadier than Tenerife North (TFN), but calima dust, strong wind, and simultaneous leisure departures still bite. Check Aena FIDS and your airline app before leaving the hotel—and do not confuse TFS with TFN on maps or taxis.
