Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

3 hours international, 2 hours domestic

Check the terminal letter before you leave — B/C is not D/E/F.

South-complex passport control (D/E/F) is the usual bottleneck. North B/C is faster when that is your terminal. Peak banks roughly 07:00–10:00 and 18:00–21:00.

Terminal

Free underground train between north and south

Wrong complex plus the underground train is a 20-minute mistake.

B and C sit together in the north. D, E and F sit together in the south. The free underground train is about 10 minutes. Aeroexpress is on the south side near E. A tight connection with hold luggage is a bad time to change complexes.

Status

SkyTeam / Aeroflot Bonus — not Star Gold, not assumed PP

Aeroflot is SkyTeam. Star Alliance Gold does not unlock Rublev.

Rublev (B) and Malevich (C) are Aeroflot-side rooms (premium cabin / Aeroflot Bonus Gold–Platinum / paid). Kandinsky (B) and Chagall (C) are the wider paid / Russian-pass independents. Directory listings do not show Priority Pass on Rublev. Confirm every card in the issuer app.

Transport

Aeroexpress 700 / 650 RUB — buy the advance fare

Buy online ≥24h ahead for 650 RUB. Same-day machines are 700 RUB.

Official train: Standard 700 RUB (valid 90 days from chosen date); advance online 650 RUB; return 1,350 RUB; business 1,700 / 2,700 RUB. Express bus Khovrino metro ↔ SVO 450 RUB one-way / 750 RUB return. ~35 min train to Belorussky.

Updated Sep 12, 2026

Russia’s busiest airport: 43.4 million passengers in 2025 (airport figure reported Feb 2026). 2026 plan ~43.1 million
North complex B (domestic) + C (international); south complex D/E/F — free underground train links the two
Aeroflot / Rossiya / SkyTeam hub — Star Alliance Gold is not an Aeroflot lounge key
Aeroexpress to Belorussky: ~35 min, about every 30 min. Standard 700 RUB same-day; 650 RUB advance online (Предварительный); bus 1195/1195D 450 RUB
Large paid / bank / Aeroflot lounge network. Do not assume Priority Pass opens Rublev or Malevich
Free inter-complex train; Aeroexpress station is on the south (E) side
