Rail ~48 min to Liverpool Street; Advance from £9.90; contactless PAYG yes; Oyster no.

The airport rail station is a short indoor/covered walk from the terminal. Stansted Express to London Liverpool Street is marketed at about 48 minutes with daytime trains around every 15 minutes (Tottenham Hale on the way for Victoria line). Operator Advance singles start from £9.90 on stanstedexpress.com — those cheapest prices are limited and typically need booking well ahead (operator copy: often ~3 months for the £9.90 band). Walk-up / on-the-day Standard is much dearer (press around the March 2026 contactless launch quoted about £21 off-peak / £23 peak — confirm the live cart or TfL Single Fare Finder). Contactless bank card / mobile PAYG has been live on this route since 8 March 2026; tap in and out. Oyster cards are still not valid to or from Stansted Airport. National Express coaches remain the usual cheaper-if-booked-ahead option to central London stops.

Classic 100 ml still in force (Apr 2026). Fast Track is queue only, not 2 L.

Official Help / Security page last updated April 2026: pack liquids, gels and aerosols under 100 ml each. Those bottles may stay in the cabin bag and do not need a clear plastics bag. Anything over 100 ml is refused even if only part-full (medical, baby food and special-diet exemptions as published). Next-generation scanners are in the lanes; they have not unlocked the 2 L leave-in rule used at some other UK airports. Fast Track (and Fast Track Plus) is a paid separate channel into the same screening — same liquids rules. Official Fast Track terms: book at least one hour before you arrive at security; published operating window commonly 04:00–20:00. Morning Ryanair banks (about 05:00–09:00) are when the paid lane is most useful.

Sat 1 only — Ryanair/easyJet cannot use Essence or the EK lounge.

After security, only passengers whose airlines use Satellite 1 gates 1–19 can ride the transit to Essence by Escape Lounges and the Emirates Lounge. Official Escape / airport copy names Ryanair and easyJet as unable to reach the room — do not buy a PP or day-pass expecting a Ryanair wait. Essence hours 04:45–20:15 daily (food offer pulled 30 minutes before close); PP max stay typically 3 hours; access from 3 hours before departure; smart casual / no sportswear on PP rules; children under 3 free. Pre-book PP / LoungeKey / DragonPass in the operator portals. Escape lists adult walk-up £35; pre-book day-pass prices move (third-party “from £28.99” is not a guarantee). Emirates Lounge is for eligible EK premium / Skywards guests on EK metal — not a general PP room.

Sat 1 is a one-way transit; check gates before booking Essence.

One landside terminal, then security into a common departures hall and separate gate satellites. Satellite 1 (gates 1–19) is a one-way transit for most passengers — once you ride out to Sat 1 you cannot casually return to the main lounge/retail. Confirm FIDS / your airline’s pier before buying Essence or assuming a short walk. Ryanair uses the main low-cost gate areas, not Sat 1.
