Sharm El Sheikh International Airport security wait times

What a normal day looks like at security here, and how to get through faster.

Flying from SSH?

Enter your flight for a door-to-door plan: when to leave, security, the lounge you can use and your gate. No account needed.

On a typical day

~25 min through security at SSH, from our airport directory. Early mornings and holiday weekends run longer.

Budget that on top of check-in or bag drop and the walk to your gate. For your exact leave-home time, enter your flight above: the plan uses the live wait when there is one.

Charter banks plus the Sinai stamp decision. Peak banks: plan ~3 hours curb-to-gate. Eligible visitors staying in South Sinai resorts ≤15 days can use the free Sinai stamp; everyone else should have the $30 visa ready before the desk.

How to get through faster at SSH

Sinai stamp is not a visa for the rest of Egypt
Eligible UK/EU/US visitors staying ≤15 days in listed South Sinai resorts get a free SSH arrival stamp; Cairo/Hurghada need a real visa.
Budget three hours on charter-bank days
Leisure banks stack check-in, security, and passport control together.
Buy water landside before you join a long passport queue; airside markups are real. There is no published public fountain map.
Terminal 1: Larger 2007 building with the distinctive Bedouin-tent roof halls joined by the wedge-shaped “boat” transit space (passport control, duty-free, VIP). Most first-time international leisure passengers clear this hall. Gates feed remote stands — expect bus boarding on many turns.
Landside: Separate curbs and check-in islands — confirm airline desk signs. There is no extensive sterile airside walkway that lets you treat both halls as one post-security campus for lounge hopping.
