Reus Airport

Peak summer Saturdays are when REU feels smaller than its annual count — arrive earlier than the resort transfer brochure suggests.

REU is a classic northern-European leisure airport for the Costa Daurada and PortAventura World: Ryanair, Jet2, easyJet and TUI stack summer mornings and changeover days, while midwinter days can feel almost empty (Aena’s own December 2025 note was only hundreds of passengers). Build about **2–2.5 hours** for peak non-Schengen departures; quieter Schengen troughs are gentler. Aena contact hours for the airport are published as **05:00–24:00**.

Compact single-terminal campus: the failure mode is underestimating non-Schengen border time, not picking the wrong building.

Landside check-in sits in the linked arrivals / check-in / departures complex Aena completed by joining the three buildings in **2008**, with the boarding area opened in **2010**. After security, Schengen and non-Schengen flows split toward different gate rooms — UK and other non-Schengen flights still need passport / EES time. There is no second passenger terminal to confuse with Barcelona-El Prat (**BCN**).

Functional leisure-airport F&B with a short named directory — plan a real meal before security on stacked holiday mornings.

Aena’s shops-and-restaurants directory currently names **Buy Bye Duty Free**, **Costa Daurada Duty Free**, **Exploring the World**, **Farine**, **La Pausa**, **Lavazza** and **The Market**. That is workable grab-and-go for a leisure bank, not a full meal reset — eat in Reus / Salou / your resort when the board is solid UK metal. There is **no** Priority Pass or Aena VIP lounge food product here.

The classic mistake is treating REU like a BCN city-airport hop — budget the BusPlana / Hispano / taxi clock and verify the IATA code.

Holiday sites still market Reus as a “Barcelona” or Costa Daurada alternate. El Prat is a different airport and a different ground plan; Aena’s own taxi guide quotes about **€200** toward Barcelona-El Prat. Check Aena FIDS and your airline app before leaving the hotel, and make sure the ticket says **REU**, not **BCN**.
