International check-in and border control queues spike hard 90 minutes before Air Astana long-hauls and morning Gulf/Europe banks.

Domestic can work with 90 minutes; international rarely does if you still need bag drop. Avoid the 04:30–07:30 and 22:00–00:30 waves if you can choose.

Domestic and international share the building but split after check-in — do not follow the wrong stream.

Wrong-side mistakes cost 20–40 minutes. Re-check your boarding pass zone before joining a security line; staff redirects are slow at peak.

Landside options are limited and airside post-security food is sparse and overpriced outside lounge hours.

If you have lounge access, plan a real meal there. Otherwise grab something in the city or at the landside café before you commit to security.

Winter fog, ice, and crosswinds regularly delay or divert; Air Astana’s app plus the airport site beat generic flight trackers.

From November–March, check NQZ operations notices the night before and again at departure. Same-day schedule changes are common in bad weather.
