Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

International is a 3–4 hour ASF airport

Operator pages are a JS shell this pass, so sit on the ASF + FIA sequence rather than a leftover reseller clock. Polio certificates are cleared at the Airport Health Desk; the shot itself is free at Pakistani international airports.

Do not invent leftover 3 h international / 2 h domestic as an operator clock. Live FIDS still prints a Check-In Closed time per flight. FCDO: visa in advance on visa.nadra.gov.pk — leftover VPA / VOA is leftover-wrong from 1 January 2026. Temporary immigration 7→20 lines opened 26 August 2026; the Rs 26 billion expansion is not a live second terminal.

Terminals

One 2003 hall — Hajj is seasonal, not T2

The live scheduled passenger building is the Allama Iqbal Terminal (inaugurated March 2003). International and domestic share it. There is no airside walk that skips immigration for a D↔I connection.

Skip leftover Hajj as a scheduled hall (1962 building, pilgrims only). Skip leftover cargo as a passenger hall. Skip leftover Walton / OPLW as this IATA. SEO leftover swapped 'Domestic = Hajj' is leftover-wrong. Khawaja Asif leftover 30 August 2026 still walked construction in the domestic departure area — do not write the expansion as open.

Food

Duty-free is the named airside landmark

Priority Pass parks the international CIP Lounge upstairs after immigration, on the same airside as duty-free. Named kitchen chains are unpublished on the operator JS site this pass — do not invent leftover Gloria Jean's / McDonald's / Starbucks.

Everything airside is halal. FCDO: importing alcohol or pork is illegal. Sealed bottles live airside after the last ASF search. Duty-free hours leftover 05:00–23:00 from a reseller are leftover-unverified.

Visa

Apply on visa.nadra.gov.pk — leftover VOA is leftover-wrong

FCDO (British citizen passports): you need a visa and you must apply in advance. NADRA's Pakistan Online Visa System is the only official portal. GCC nationals are visa-free on the NADRA homepage.

FCDO: passport expiry at least 6 months after the visa application date; get the entry stamp. Visa Prior to Arrival / visa-on-arrival disappeared from the portal on 1 January 2026. NICOP / SNICOP holders enter as Pakistani citizens. SBP: take out at most Rs 3,000 in Pakistani notes (not to India); foreign currency above 18 is USD 10,000 per visit / USD 60,000 a year.

Uber left Pakistan in 2024; Careem ride-hailing ended 18 July 2025

International is a 3–4 hour ASF + FIA airport; Orange Line does not reach LHE

One live scheduled passenger hall: the March 2003 Allama Iqbal Terminal. International and domestic check-in share that building. Wikipedia leftover Hajj terminal is the 1962 hall, seasonal pilgrims only — not a second scheduled passenger terminal. Cargo is freight-only. SEO leftover 'Domestic Terminal = Hajj' and leftover 'T2 as live scheduled' are leftover-wrong. No numbered live T3. No metro. No airport rail. Orange Line does not reach LHE.
PCAA FY 2024–25 (July 2024–June 2025, Wikipedia citing PCAA): 6,048,541 passengers (+11.6%), 36,023 movements, 114,882 t cargo — Pakistan's third-busiest that year after Islamabad and Karachi. Express Tribune / LCCI leftover 6.86 million (5.14M intl + 1.73M domestic) is calendar 2025 leftover-conflicting — sit on the PCAA fiscal year. FIA leftover 5.1 million is 2025 international immigration only. Wikipedia leftover 6 million / expansion leftover 10 million / leftover 20 million are capacity / unbuilt, not a year.
Two runways: 18L/36R 3,360 m concrete and 18R/36L 2,743 m asphalt. ICAO OPLA. Elevation leftover 213 m / 699 ft. About 5 km west of the lib/airports.json pin to the city-center pin (31.52037, 74.35875) on Airport Road / Cantt — Wikipedia leftover 15 km leftover-conflicting with that pin; Walled City / Badshahi is ~12 km. Operator Pakistan Airports Authority; Wikipedia body leftover PCAA-as-operator is leftover-stale. Official leftover https://www.lahoreairport.com.pk/ is a JS shell this pass.
Operator pages are a JS shell this pass — do not invent leftover reseller 3 h / 2 h as an operator clock. Budget 3–4 hours before an international departure because ASF screens you at the vehicle barrier and the door, then check-in, then FIA immigration, then another search. International: valid passport and visa, plus a polio certificate in the circumstances FCDO lists (shot is free at Pakistani international airports).
Two public Priority Pass rooms, both titled CIP Lounge, both 00:00–23:59, max 3 hours, children under 2 free: international CIP upstairs on the left after immigration (prayer room on the PP card — worth-it), domestic CIP next to Gates 11 and 12 (depends). DragonPass lists the same two rooms. No showers on either live PP card. PIA Premier / Emirates leftover-unverified as public PP this pass. No alcohol.
No Uber (nationwide cease 30 April 2024). Careem ride-hailing ended 18 July 2025 (Reuters / Dawn). Live apps: inDrive and Yango. Official taxis at arrivals — agree the fare. Orange Line metro is Thokar Niaz Baig–Lahore Railway Station and does not reach the terminal. Trip.com leftover Orange Line as an airport metro is leftover-wrong.
