Kano, Nigeria · Africa

Northern Nigeria's main airport and the country's fourth-busiest, with about 840,000 passengers a year. Ethiopian, EgyptAir, Saudia and, from late October 2026, Qatar Airways fly from a modern international terminal with two Priority Pass lounges. Domestic flights use the Dankabo terminal, renovated in 2026. Food and shopping are thin, and the UK government advises against all but essential travel to Kano State.

Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

International departures cluster around midday

Afternoon international bank; lounges open 08:00.

Ethiopian, Saudia and EgyptAir all leave in the early-to-mid afternoon, and Qatar Airways leaves late morning on its two weekly days. Both Priority Pass lounges open at 08:00 and close at 17:00 or 18:00, which covers these departures. Complete Nigeria's online exit card before you go to the airport.

Terminal

Check which terminal you need

Separate international and domestic terminals.

International flights use the international terminal opened in 2023. Domestic flights use the renovated Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal, which reopened on 28 July 2026. Older guides and drivers may still send domestic passengers to the international building, where domestic flights ran during the renovation.

Food

Eat before you fly

Few food options; lounges serve light snacks.

Shops and restaurants are limited, and travellers often describe the terminals as basic. Eat in town before you come, or use a Priority Pass lounge for light refreshments if you are flying internationally.

Status

Two Priority Pass lounges airside

PTS Lounge and Lounge One take Priority Pass.

The PTS Lounge (near Gates 2 and 3) and Lounge One (near Gate 5) are both airside in the international terminal and accept Priority Pass. The PTS Lounge also sells passes through its own reservations. No airline-run lounge is listed for Ethiopian, EgyptAir, Saudia or Qatar Airways passengers.
