Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

Check metroairport.com waits

The airport posts live security times; they are often under 20 minutes.

Evans can be quicker than McNamara in a Delta bank. PreCheck helps both terminals.

Terminal

McNamara and Evans do not connect airside

Wrong terminal means a landside shuttle. Delta uses McNamara; other airlines use Evans.

Lufthansa, United, and most non-Delta flights are Evans / Concourse D.

Food

PP food is Evans or a McNamara restaurant credit

The only PP lounge is Lufthansa in Evans. Anita's Kitchen is a PP restaurant credit.

Sky Clubs are Delta-access, not Priority Pass.

Status

Lufthansa PP has a midday blackout

Live PP hours: 06:00–12:00 and 17:00–20:00 Monday–Saturday; Sunday morning only.

Same-day DTW outbound boarding pass required. Max stay 3 hours. Amex Lounge Finder also lists the room for Platinum, with a Lufthansa-group flight rule on that page — follow the card’s own finder.

Honest verdict

Who this airport works for

Best for

Watch out for

No airside connection between terminals
Limited public transit to city
McNamara crowds during peaks

Guide quick facts

From the editorial guide for DTW.

Updated Sep 15, 2026

Two terminals: McNamara (Delta, airside-connected concourses) and Evans (everyone else; no airside link)
Wayne County Airport Authority: 33,372,682 passengers and 321,759 operations in 2025
Live Priority Pass lounge is the Lufthansa Business Lounge in Evans — not the Delta Sky Clubs
PP also lists Anita's Kitchen (Evans), two Gameways, Be Relax, and Minute Suites in McNamara
SMART FAST Michigan 261 serves both terminals; adult fixed-route fare $2.00
McNamara Concourse A is long — use the tram past roughly A40
