From Best Airport Tricks & Hacks

Take the free airside walk between concourses instead of exiting and re-clearing—saves huge time on connections.
RTA Red Line station is on the lower level via central elevators/escalators; buy $2.50 ticket or $5 day pass at the TVM before boarding.
For Priority Pass, prefer Bar Symon $28 food/drink credit over The Club if you want a real meal.
United Club rarely fills up—great quiet workspace with gelato if eligible.
Park in Smart Garage ($26/day) and reserve ahead for guaranteed close-in spot; Brown Lot is cheapest long-term at $15/day.
Download the airport or airline app for gate changes; C concourse is long so know your gate early.
Dunkin’ or vending (Farmers Fridge) for late-night/early options when full restaurants close.
Taxi stand is only at south end of baggage claim by carousel 11—rideshares use upper or lower curb.

SecurityTraveler Tips & Hacks

Prioritize PreCheck or CLEAR

Enroll in PreCheck and use CLEAR lanes at Central or South to keep waits under 10 minutes most times.

Standard lines spike during United/Southwest banks; live boards on the airport site show current times. Central stays open latest.

Pro

Often breezes through even at busy times

Watch-out

Enrollment takes weeks if you don't already have it

02

TransportTraveler Tips & Hacks

Default to the Red Line for downtown

Take the RTA Red Line from the lower-level station for the cheapest, traffic-free ride to Tower City.

Trains every 15 minutes most of the day, under 30 minutes total, $2.50 one-way. Buy at TVM; exact change or card. Perfect unless you have heavy luggage or late-night arrival after service ends.

Pro

Cheapest and avoids road traffic

Watch-out

Not door-to-door; stairs/escalators involved

03

FoodTraveler Tips & Hacks

Choose Bar Symon over chains

Head to Bar Symon on C for wings, pierogies, and better quality than the food-court staples.

Priority Pass gives ~$28 credit. Great Lakes Brewing nearby for local beer. Main court has Shake Shack and Chick-fil-A if you need speed.

Pro

Actual Cleveland flavor

Watch-out

Can have a wait at peak meal times

04

LoungeTraveler Tips & Hacks

United Club if eligible, else Bar Symon PP

Use United Club for comfort if you qualify; otherwise burn Priority Pass at Bar Symon for food value.

The Club CLE is convenient but basic—fine for a short sit with PP. Day passes rarely worth $50.

Pro

United Club stays calm

Watch-out

Limited options overall for non-UA/PP travelers

05

NavigationTraveler Tips & Hacks

Clear security once and walk

Ignore any multi-terminal thinking—walk airside between A/B/C after one screening.

Saves re-clearing time on connections. Allow extra minutes for far C gates. Follow signs carefully at the post-security split.

Pro

Extremely simple layout

Watch-out

Long walk if your gate is at the end of C
