Cabin-bag domestic passengers who already know Door 9 buses or kerbside drop can often work with about 60–75 minutes curb-to-gate when queues are calm. International still wants about 2–2.5 hours for check-in, security, and passport control — longer in school holidays and when Emirates / long-haul banks stack Gate 30. Same-day domestic↔international always re-clears landside. The field is curfew-free, but overnight sleeping on floors/seats is not a published product — plan a hotel if you need a real rest.

Everything shares one landside hall. Regional turboprops use Gates 3–14; mainline Air NZ / Jetstar domestic jets use the central zone (15–22a); international is the north-east wing (23–35). Stands 21/24 and 22/25 swing between domestic and international numbering — do not walk to yesterday’s domestic gate memory. Gate 30’s dual bridge is the A380 / dual narrow-body position.

CIAL finished a full food, beverage and retail reinvention through early 2025 — use the Level 1 shared retail precinct before you clear security if you still need queue buffer. Without Koru / Manaia entitlement, public airside is café-led rather than destination dining. Manaia is the only Priority Pass soft room; Regional Express is a quick bite for eligible turboprop guests only (no guests, no kids over 2).

Primary 02/20 handles most traffic; 11/29 exists specifically for Canterbury foehn / nor’west days that would strand a single-runway field. Reliability risk is more often Air New Zealand domestic capacity (FY25 domestic was flat while international grew ~11%) than a hard curfew.
