Buffalo Niagara Airport Security Wait Times (BUF): Live Now

On a typical day

~12 min through security at BUF, from our airport directory. Early mornings and holiday weekends run longer.

Budget that on top of check-in or bag drop and the walk to your gate. For your exact leave-home time, enter your flight above: the plan uses the live wait when there is one.

Checkpoint closes 9 p.m. — the terminal does not. Official FAQ: the building is 24/7, but TSA shuts at 21:00 daily. Ticket counters typically open 90 minutes before the first departure.

How to get through faster at BUF

One checkpoint — and it closes at 21:00
The building is 24/7. TSA is not. After 21:00 you can sleep landside; you cannot reclear.
Walk the gate number, not a hub map. After TSA you are already on the concourse. Official dining pins: Blue Zone at Gate 4, The Club / Coffee Beanery opposite the checkpoint and Gates 6–7, Queen City Kitchen at Gate 10, Market on Elmwood at Gate 18, JetSet East at Gate 20. Live FIDS 26 Oct 2026: Frontier 3, American 4–6, JetBlue 7–8 / 19, United 11–14, Southwest 15–18 / 21, Delta 20–26
Landside: upper Departures (ticket counters, drop-off, Satterfield's, checkpoint). Lower Arrivals (bags, commercial curb, rideshare / bus to the left). Covered parking garage is the red-sign Daily/Hourly product
Airside: one sterile concourse after the single checkpoint. No train, no second security, no sterile hop to another building. Charging is along the holdrooms. Official March 2025 directory map also pins a Nursing Lounge, Reflection Room, Barber Shop, Service Animal Relief, Kids Play Area, and Customer Service

PreCheck, CLEAR, liquids and IDs. What the TSA lets through and which programs actually save time.
