AUH's Terminal A is a modern Etihad hub with long pier walks, a 24-hour contract lounge, and excellent airline rooms if the ticket actually includes them — but U.S. preclearance is temporarily closed.

Most important tips

Know before you go

A compact traveler cheat sheet for timing, terminals, food, and disruption checks.

Timing

U.S. flights no longer preclear here

Treat U.S. arrivals as a normal international landing until Etihad says otherwise.

Etihad's live banner says the CBP facility at Terminal A is temporarily closed. Originating U.S. passengers still check in at Terminal A, then clear immigration and customs on landing. Confirm your specific flight close to departure.

Terminal

One terminal, long piers

Terminal A only; budget 15–20 minutes to far gates.

Follow colour-coded signs for piers A–D and use the travellators. Etihad lists 45 minutes as the non-U.S. MCT and 85 minutes for U.S. connections; the extra time is walking plus, when CBP is operating, the 60-minute preclearance close-out.

Food

Eat at the Food Park, not Pearl, if you want quiet food

24-hour Food Park on Level 5; Etihad dining only with a ticket or custom benefit.

Patamar and Texas Chicken in the airside Food Park (mezzanine, Level 5) are listed 24 hours. Pearl's card-holder buffet crowds at the night bank; Etihad's Liwan and Constellation Bar beat both if you are eligible.

Status

Etihad Gold is not an automatic lounge key

Cabin class first; Guest lounge access only if you selected that benefit.

Lounge access for Etihad Guest is a Custom Benefit, not a default Gold or Platinum perk. Paid Etihad lounge time is sold in Manage Booking on Etihad-operated flights only (not U.S. flights), for up to four hours, and First Lounge paid access requires a Business ticket. Price is shown at checkout.
