quickFacts:
  - >-
International Airport Irkutsk (IATA IKT / ICAO UIII) is the main airport of
Irkutsk and the Baikal region, inside the city about 5.5 km from the centre
and roughly 60 km from Lake Baikal. Operator: JSC International Airport
Irkutsk, 100% owned by the Irkutsk Oblast government. Local time UTC+8
    (Moscow plus 5).
  - >-
    Traffic: a record 4,048,738 passengers in 2025 (+2.7% on 2024's 3,942,092),
including 874,282 international passengers (+27.6%), per the airport's
annual results. In January–June 2026 it handled 1,895,116 passengers, with
    international traffic up 9%.
  - >-
Three separate buildings: Terminal 1 for international flights (a
    reconstructed 1950s building, 240 passengers/hour), Terminal 2 for domestic
    departures (the 1976 terminal rebuilt in 2009, 13 check-in desks, 800
passengers/hour) and Terminal 3, a 2,600 m² modular domestic arrivals
building opened on 11 June 2025.
  - >-
No jet bridges: every flight boards and deplanes by apron bus. The single
runway 12/30 (3,565 m, elevation about 511 m) sits away from the aprons, so
taxi routes can be up to 5 km.
  - >-
Network: about 50 Russian cities plus international flights to China
(Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Sanya), Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket), Vietnam
(Cam Ranh), Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar), Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
S7 Airlines is by far the largest carrier, followed by IrAero, Aeroflot,
    Rossiya and Ural Airlines.
  - >-
Foreign visitors need a Russian visa; the unified e-visa is valid for entry
at Irkutsk, but only for nationalities on the MFA list (Germany and most EU
states yes; UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand no). Germany
(Auswärtiges Amt) and the UK (FCDO) both advise against all travel to
    Russia.
  - >-
    A replacement airport at the Klyuchevaya site outside the city is planned;
pre-design work was completed in September 2026 and construction is
    scheduled to start in 2028.

# Irkutsk International Airport (IKT)
Irkutsk, Russia · Europe
IKT is Irkutsk's in-city gateway to Lake Baikal: a record 4.05 million passengers in 2025, three small separate terminals and bus boarding for every flight. It is close to the centre and cheap to reach by trolleybus. Against it: cramped old buildings, pay-only lounges with no Priority Pass, roubles-only payments for foreigners, and knock-on delays when Moscow airspace closes.

## Watch out for

- Three separate buildings: T1 international, T2 domestic departures, T3 domestic arrivals
